Just wondering how many people are using Kumho tyres and what your thoughts and experiencs on them are.
I just got a set (4) of KU37 Ecsta XT's and they defiantly feel good so far. These specific tyres are apparently really good for straight line driving (e.g. freeway) which is most of my driving. They are also rated to 270km/hTime to hit the test track i think

How much did you pay for them and what size are they?
They're all 16" (225/50 R16XL). 4 of them with a front and back alignment was just over $500. Great service too from North End Tyres.
Thanks for that.
No problem, you in the market for some? These guys were really helpful, if you get a choice approach the guy with the blonde in his hair. Can't remember his name now (Pete or Nick i think). Does whatever is needed to keep you happy!
I ran a set of kumho ecsta 225 50 16's for about 3 months and then got sick of how poorly they performed under heavy braking conditions. They're ok for a cheap tyre but I wouldn't put them on the front...
Im running some kumho's on the front at the moment, not a bad tyre... Fantastic compared to what i had on the fronts (now on the rear) they are so bad that once it starts to rain, traction is pretty much non existant through 1st and 2nd unless being VERY careful lol......
But i can honestly say the kumho's are 100x times better![]()
Thats good to know, but what type of ecsta's were you running?
Do you recognize the tread pattern from this: Kumho Tyres Australia Pty Ltd | Passenger Tyres ?
From all the other responses i have got about Kumho they're shaping up to be a good brand. So want to know all i can about what went wrong with your tyres. Were they balanced and then aligned?
I have no idea about them, i would go check but its to cold lol
Nothing wrong with them, im just saying there fantastic in comparison to the shit brand i used to have on the fronts lol
I had Ecsta's on my VT for a while. Very average tyres - Ok in the dry, but piss all wet grip.

This is exactly what these did. Not even the SAVA's i tried did this. Had a guy sing them on a track day we were on, they were umm, slimy to say the most positive thing about them. For the price of them, I was getting SP Maxx cheaper which perform sooooo much better, so thats what I went back to.
Kumho = Fail.

I have Kumho Ecsta SPT on my caprice 275's on rear 245 on front - they have been a great tyre thus far nothing bad to say - great grip low road noise considering I am running 20's
padrickz88, thta question wasn't directed to you, it was directed to kane88, your post came in before mine though :P
AussieAdamWM, that's good to hear.
Well, i've been driving quite a bit today, and thanks to Melbourne Weather i've been able to check them in dry and wet.
Tested them in the morning, break from 80km/h and 60km/h to stop on the Western Rind Rd Carpark. ABS didn't kick in. And felt a lot smoother too on the 100km/h stretch after Sydney Rd. I also noticed that the tyres are quiter than my other tyres i had, so much so that i can hear the engine idling louder than the tyres, and the engine doesn't idle very loudly.
In the wet, they handle really well too, breaking from 60km/h on a wet road it just gripped and the vehicle didn't have to engage ABS. My laptop wasnt too happy with being "thrown" to the front passengers footwell by the test though. Then another interesting test, acceleration in the wet from a red light, again, no loss of traction just gripped and went. I did try force breaking traction further but to no real avail, the tyres got to 70km/h and i was travelling pretty close to that speed, with my old tyres they did that test and the wheels would be doing something like 130km/h and i would be travelling all of 30km/h. I would definatly recommend these tyres to anyone who wants a good tyre that sticks when you want it to. The only test now is to see how long they last....
Of course they were balanced and aligned, I wouldn't run tyres that weren't, that'd be a waste of money and time. They're KU25's and I will only put them on the back, scared the crap outta me when they were on the front end.
Hell if you're really keen on a spare set I could spray some camo paint on 'em for ya...
I used to run the powermax's for a few years. I never had a problem with them and I do have a set of ecstas on the front atm i had to drag out of retirement for rego.
