Hello all,
Going to be getting my ute tinted in the next couple of weeks and I am wondering what to do! Obviously legally 35% is the darkest you can go but I want to know what other people have done and how it looks as to if i go darker on my ute.
Cheers
search for "my ride" thread mate..its got 16% which is 1 darker then legal..

Ok well think i figured it out, looking at going 5% rear window, 20% all other windows and 5% sun strip on front window. The tinting guy said 20% is quite good and no troubles apparently?
I got 15% all round as i have tryed alot of different tints and seen many of my mates tints and i would have to say between 22%, and 15% is probably the darkest you should go. looking at 15% and 5% next to eachother you cant see much difference unless your close up, but with the 15% you can see alot more through the windows from the inside. 22% is a bit clearer but is better if u wanna keep it looking semi legal as you can just see through the tints slightly as with 15 you can see silhouettes through the window but thats it. 5% you cant see s**t. with your ute i would say get 20% all round as it looks much cleaner having the tint even. and with a 5% rear window u wont be able to see much reversing at night.
I have 5% on my stacy. got defected on christmas eve for it. went and got it pulled off, then took it over pits and then got it back on the next day. Its awesome. If its a black car just go darkest legal, but if its white. It will look awesome with 5%.
Please note that you need to remember where things are when reversing otherwise you may hit somthing. just be careful.

I have 5%, takes a few weeks to get used to driving at night but in summer time it keeps the car so cool in the heat, big difference!
Helps protect interior plastics from sun damage aswell.

the law requires tints to be such that a second vehicle approaching another vehicle is clearly visible through the glassed areas of the vehicle.
Which makes no sense when you have effing great 4 wheel drives, trucks, buses and vans with steel sides on the road legally.
Chalk this law up as another idiots inconsistent diahorrea.
My old VR at 5%.
Perfectly fine during the day, but when raining at night it can be a bit interesting turning out of T intersections etc.
U want to go careful at night time with dark tint, in my car (i dont know what percentage it is) i had to get my mate in the back seat to open their door so i could see the kerb when i was reversing, it was kinda scary. and i put a hold in my tail light because i was reversing into my flat parking and sorta just guessed where the parking bay joined the fence because i couldnt see shit, and i bumped the rail and a f**king bolt was poking out two inches![]()
