Hi everyone,
Does eny one know how to remove the spark plugs on an alloytech engine to replace them.
Do you have to remove the intake plenum/manifold (turtull shell)to get to some spark plugs, if so how do you take it off. Do you need a new gasket when putting it back on.
And to remove the plugs how do you remove the electrical lead and the little black box on each plug. Also are the plugs your standard looking Bosh platinum plugs or are the a fancy expencive item.
Any help/ advice would be appriciated. I'm trying trying to do the job my self to save some cash because of a newborn baby in the family saving cash is important . I do have basic mechanical knowlage. I have done the plugs on my brothers Vy and that was no worries. the alloythech looks a bit different. Thanks for your help.![]()
Download a pdf of the service manual and you should have all your answears
Please let me know a web address/link thanks very much.
you have to take ur manifold off, it didnt look hard just take off all hoses and undo bolts and it came right off, thats what my dad did to his anyway lol
i didnt have to take my whole manifold off i just loosened the bolts on the plenum and the plenum side of the airbox piping and slightly ajared it.
as for the little black boxes they have bolts in them simply remove the bolts and pull the box off..
As for the plugs i used platinum fusions and noticed a few differences with engine note and a slight improvement in fuel ecconomy and acceleration
if you have any sort of mechanical mind this will be a piece of pee
oh and yeah the fusion plugs dont come cheap they use just plain platnums from factory plain platinums are cheaper
Easy as job, no need to totally remove the manifold as previously stated. But make sure you cover the inlet manifold with a rag to stop things falling into the engine. Not fun when a nut falls in and fail to notice it lol. The NGK part number is LTR6AP-11 which is what I run at work. If it's on gas gap it down to 1.0mm
ill let dad know there is an eaiser way to do it lol, cheers for the info
thanks for the help guys, sorry for the late reply.
