Default Please help me fix my car.

    Hi all,
I am new to this site (and fixing my car) and need a little advice. This is probably in the wrong section but i am pulling my hair out.

I have a VT exec wagon and someone tried to break in to it a while ago. they broke the outer drivers door handle and it now doesnt open. I have a new one ready to go on but can not figure out how to remove the old one. I have already taken the trim out (figured that out all by myself. not bad for a chick. lol) can someone help me please?????????

also at some stage the window winder broke(regulator?). I have a new one to go in also but can not get the old one out. how do you unscrew it.HELP PLEASE!!!!!

the window winder, has a clip in behind it i think if its anything like the VR/VS, youlll need a special tool to remove it

Hi, I am in SE melb. I have managed to change the door handle (but it is a bit sticky) and have figured out that I need to remove the pop rivetts to remove the reg but have NO idea how. I guess I would then need to replace the pop rivets lol

You will need to drill the rivets out, but you can replace them with cup head bolts and nyloc nuts.

Holden Spare parts offer both the replacement rivets and the correct self tapping bolts for the regulator.
you dont need nuts on the end of them.
you will need to drill out the head of the rivet with a larger drill bit.

first up nice user name lol.
you will need to take the glass out before you do anything else (real prick of a job btw)
drill the rivets with a drill bit big enough to get the head off.
pull old reg out and position new one in and rivet in place.

as for your handle have a look and see if the rod from the handle is pushing down on the mechanism properly.
there should be a plastic click in type giude that matches the one on the handle itself. you will know what im on about when you have a look.
if its not there thats why it will be sticky, if not id be looking at how the actual door lock is functioning.
sometimes a bit of spray grease gets them working well again and sometimes they just need replacing.

    No you dont.
You dont need to remove any part of the window except the regulator.

ahh good so the reg can slide out of the glass rails then out without fouling on anything.
