hi all. i'm in desperate need of a top quality car cover, my work just transferred me to a craphole town in the central qld desert with 2 big mines within 10km of town and no undercover parking where we stay, my car was spotless when i got here 4 days ago now its covered in coal dust, i've heard stories of cheap car covers scratching the paint when they move around and falling apart in the sun. does anyone know of any that wont fall apart in 40+ degree heat or hurt my paint? (i've already checked out the storage shed option and apparently there are none in town)![]()
I think the general idea is that the more expensive it is, the better. I bought a cheap-o that wasn't even water resistant once - cost $40. You'll be looking at over $100 for a decent one.
Tyvek do good covers for around $130. Light material, non-abrasive, and they don't "breathe", so you don't get any dust penetration. You just need to wash it every few months to get the dust out. Expect it to last 2-3 years in your conditions
How often do you drive it? I currently keep my Kingswood under both a car cover and a tarpaulin, and not a spot of moisture or dirt has gotten in yet![]()
