hey guys, this is my first post so apoligies if this is in the wrong category.
im looking to buy a commodore wioth two options in mind:
2003 VY S Supercharged
or
2004 VZ SV6
I'm having a look at a view sites but as I don't know much about cars I'm not sure which would honeslty be better. I am mainly looking for the one that goes faster and the First mod i am going to do is a stage two shift kit.
Can anyone give me some ideas?
bump...any ideas?
VZ SV6![]()
Which u can supercharge later & will have much more lick than a VY S S/C.
The Blue One
VY S Specs:

Maximum torque: 375 Nm @ 3000 rpm (on PULP)
Recommended Fuel: 95 Octane (PULP)
Alternative Fuel: 91 Octane (ULP)
VZ SV6 Specs:
Weight: 1592kg
Maximum power: 190 kW @ 6500 rpm

VZ SV6's are heavenly, but there isnt much you can do it it engine wise (unless wack a turbo or supercharger on)
and a supercharged ecotec, you can change the pulley and get 5-21 psi, etc etc.

good luck choosing. ive got a VZ SV6 and they are beautiful.. why not get a V8?
i wish i got get a V8 except RED p's in Victoria sucks!!!
I like the shape and style of the VZ more so I'm leaning that way.
Thanks TVR-161...but now im more confused. So the VZ has more power but the VY has more torque. I pretty much want to know when I put my foot down, which will win if they both has Stage 2 Shift Kits?
Sorry if i sound like a novice haha
I might be biased, but go the VY Supercharged! :P
However josh.b.99, just remember if your on the new P system you wont be able to legally drive the supercharged vehicle either! :P No Superchargers or Turbos (Turbo's only if on deisel vehicles). And cannot drive anything with 8 or more cylinders. If your on the new system then you've only got one option, the VZ. If your on the old system then your almost off your P's! :P
im going to assum he just got his licence, because he said red p's.. Red=n00b
and im also going to assum u are planning on making up some crap to get exempt to drive supercharged? i tried it, and failed, so got a vz sv6 and love the shit outta it![]()
Super6 is better, but you can't drive it on P's.
Maybe drive both and decide yourself instead of listening to other people. Gees, if i was deciding between 2 cars i wouldnt be listening to what other people think. YOU have to drive it every day, not us.....
Go the SV6, but as VZ_SS States, it's your opinion, not ours.
Depends guys,
I think they've reversed the whole "2 colour P plate system" and gone (or going) back to just one?
If he got his Ps a while back, he is allowed to drive the super6. To the OP, how long left till your off your Ps. If you want performance, might be worth sticking with your current ride for a while till you can get a SS (even if its older like a VX/VTII)
when did this happen? are you talking about vic or some state else?
IMO the guy asking should not get the supercharged one, as its not allowed and i don't think the $1168 fine and 3 demerit points sounds very appealing. just stick it out with a n/a v6, sv6's are pretty nice and save your pennies for when you aren't restricted. you can still get in alot of trouble with a v6 without a supercharger, just when you get busted, its one less fine.
i very highly doubt the police would not notice you were driving something you shouldn't be.
Hey guys, iv just put an sc14 charger on my ecotec and it isnt running right, it idles up and down and stalls but runns great while reving. Any ideas what that could be? maybe too high boost? it has a fairly small pulley but im not sure what pund it is.
just thought ide might add something, im driving an vz sv6 5 speed auto, me mate has a vx supercharged calais, weve had a few runs and on a standing start he will pull up quiker, wud be the abundance of low end torque but on a rolling start at around 35 kays we are pretty much dead on, also wiht vz have a better auto, in the higher models anyways, u gain an extra cog and its a little smarter when it down shifts, holds gears and so on. i do like the 3.8 but i think the alloytec is much more flexible, this is in my own opinion and also the better fuel economy isnt bad, i manage about 10 - 11 litrles per 100 k around town if u drive like a granny and 6.8 on the open roads.
woouldnt bother with the alloytec, the supercharged ecotec has alot of potential....
