hey
i just picked up some cheap rims from the wreckers and they don't have any tread on the tires...
my question to you is what is a good pair of 235/45/r17 tires that won't make me have to sell the boys to get..
thanks
anyone????
If you just want something cheap then Nankang NS2 tyres can be found for about $120 each fitted and balanced. They're direction tyres. A little bit noisier than your expensive Bridgestones and provided you don't drive like an idiot in the wet they are quite reasonable. I have them on the front of my car.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
for the extra 35 bucks are the maxxix worth it
bumpskieeeeese
Hankook, bloody good tire..reasonably priced compared to bridgestone's..(here in NZ anyways )
Floor it and swerve driving skool
maxxis mv's
nexen nx3000 have been going for 120 each fitted/balanced in canberra
Maxxis MA-V1's are great tyres for the money. I actually run different rims/tyres at different times on my 500hp VLT Berlina. When I have my 17's on, they run 235/45/17 Maxxis MA-V1's and they are a good tyre. Ofcourse they don't hold the power down, but no tyre does with my car.
My VZ Calais had Maxxis MA-V1's on it when I bought it. They were near the end of their life with low tread, but they were still quiet and comfortable.
My mates VZ Monaro runs Maxxis MA-V1's and he is happy as they are not noisy and they feel secure under foot.
My other mate in his VZ Clubsport runs Maxxis MA-Z1's on the rear in 19's. They are a very grippy tyre for the price.
If I was you, I would go for the Maxxis MA-V1's. They are a quiet and comfortable tyre. Out of all the cheaper brands, I would go Maxxis everytime for value for money.
+1 with the Maxxis.
I had the Maxxis MA-V1's for track day on the front and they held up reasonably well. The Diamond Back's I had on the rear were shockers!
I am running Maxxis MA-Z1's with my 19's now without trouble.

whats the damage on those for my rims??
I honestly wouldn't know about the Maxxis MA-V1's to suit a 17 inch rim. Maybe about the $130 each mark but I could be wrong.

Have a look at the link below (4th tyre down on the list). The 235/45/17 Maxxis MA-V1 is $155ea including fitting and balancing. These are exactly the same tyre and size running on my 500hp VL Berlina Turbo.

whats so bad about directional?
MA-V1 are pretty average. The MA-Z1 is much better.
Federal SS-595 are pretty good, and reasonably priced.
Nothing wrong with directional except that you can't rotate them properly, you can only swamp the fronts to the back and vica versa. This isn't a problem if you get your tyres serviced regularly. Directional tyres give a tyre better water handling, so in theory better grip in the wet.

k.. i think ill go for directional. luckly my spare hasnt been touched so its full tread and non directional so it can go on any wheel..
The main advantage of directional tyres is that they look cool - 90% marketing hype and 10% function. Very few tyres are actually directional these days. A lot of performance tyres have the "directional look" but are really just asymmetric, non-directional -i.e. they have a different tread pattern on the inside edge to the outside edge, but so it doesn't matter which side of the car they are on.
Agreed im running the same federals on the calais but again they r directions. I cant comment on how many kms u can get from them yet (1st time ive tried them) as ive got really bad cambers on the rears so at this stage they have only lasted just under 10000kms but the fronts r like newish still.
as abovetho u can always turn the tyres over on the rim just means more piss farting around thats all. Im glad i got outer them with the VT now with Pirelli P zero neros even tho the hankooks were good and lasted 45000kms.
