the V6 would still probably be cheaper to run, depends how you drive them. Gas is cheaper but it doesnt last as long as petrol so you only end up saving a little more cash.... plus gas is for BBQ's not for cars.

I would have to say gas on a V8 is cheaper to run the petrol on a V6.
Last the missus and I drove about 600+ k's.
    Her in a V6 VX Berlina Wagon.(on 91% petrol) 600km = $90
    Me in a V8 VP Calais. (on gas vapour) 700km+ = $70
This was on the same trip up until 600km. An Keeping in mind I am only human and my foot may have been a little heavier than hers lol.

Gas on the 5L would be cheaper IMO, all comes down to how you drive it but

Waits for Levymetal... He'll tell you.

I do think V8 on gas is cheaper then the V6 on petrol when driven the same way.

The V8 will be cheaper to fuel. A good rule of thumb is that with the extra volumetric fuel consumption of LPG, but its lower price per litre, LPG is about $petrol/2. A V8 won't consume any where near twice as much as a V6.

Something else to consider is that the supermarket discount coupons are worth 25-30% more (the increase in volumetric fuel consumption over petrol) with LPG . You also get to dodge the Tuesday "discount day" ques with LPG, although you do typically have to fill up more often, depending on the size of the LPG tank used.

i'd say the gas would also depend on the system, my VP V8 had a gas system installed in 93 and i only got around 320kms out of the 70l tank. I know newer systems get better economy than the old ones

hehe, how did i miss this thread? yup, the 5ltr on gas is definitely cheaper to run than a petrol 3.8. the 3.8s haven't been known for good economy anyway. any car will use around about 30% more gas than petrol. gas, however, is less than half the price of petrol so clearly it's still cheaper.

3.8ltr - i'd say 13l/100, but this is just my estimate. petrol costs $1.20/l, so it'll cost $15.60 per 100ks.

    5ltr - 18l/100 on gas. gas costs $0.55/l, so it'll cost $9.90 per 100ks. i know it's 18l/100 because i have one. i also have a pretty heavy foot.

and of course, the 5ltr on gas is still faster than the 3.8 on petrol, so we have a winner

Wow thats high Levy. My petrol V8 is under 10L/100ks every days of the week (usually 7 or 8)
Cheaper to run my car on petrol than gas it seems lol

I've known for a long time VP V8s are better than VN and VP V6s on petrol.....

Gas in the city is shithouse. On the Highway, it's wicked, cheap and you can go for hundreds of k's. Mate of mine and I got 500k's (From Merimbula to Melbourne) on 3/4 of a tank of gas in his 5litre VS SS.
