It makes heaps more sense to have a big taco in an auto than a manual.

Have you ever tried eating some late-night mexican and changing gears at the same time? It just gets messy and you spend the rest of the night cleaning salsa out of the seats

I agree with you in low powered cars with standard autos, but in full manualised autos in quick cars, then they are worth every cent and I wouldn't be without a shiftlight.

I would much rather watch the road and wait for a bright orange flash from my shiftlight to warn to change rather than glancing down at the tacho in my 500hp VL Berlina Turbo.

On the street my car does 0-100km/h in mid 4 seconds. Adding to the fact that wheelspin is easily engaged, well im happy I have my shiftlight to advise that redline is reached and time to change. The revs climb that quick that I would rather watch the road and not the dash.

On the dragstrip my car does 0-100km/h in low to mid 3 seconds. Try looking where your going and getting the change at the exact revs required without a shiftlight.

I have mine for functionality and not w#nk factor.

My tacho is a memory playback tacho. I can see exactly at what revs I changed gears and I can revise the light to illuminate earlier or later and this can be done at different revs for each gear. Its a fantastic instrument.

    OM NOM NOM!

LOL But seriously I think shiftlights are acceptable if your auto has a stage 3 shiftkit etc....

Monster tacho's on the other hand im not a big fan of because most cars that have them have one thats in perfect working order on the dash... (most)

Ok, first up, a taco is somethng you eat at Taco Bills, a TACHO is a guage that indicates engine RPM.

    Right, next...

I really don't understand the reeason behind them, if it's a drag car, then you just need to know when to shift, so a shiftlight will do.

If its a street car, you don't need to shift just before redline so you don't need a tacho.

SO that leave the only reason to have it is because it looks 'fully sick'... and if that's what floats your boat sure go for it, but don't you want it for any other reason.

Oh, also illegal to have them mounted above the dash line.

90% of cars come with a tacho the same size as a monster tacho anyway.

Pure wank factor. Its the way i gauge a persons personality if i'm just meeting them. Monster tacho...yep, tosser.

And before anyone claims they 'need' them to know when to change gears, learn to drive, then you can change gears by feel/sound

I learnt to drive in a car without a tacho. If you can't shift by engine sound/feel (on the street) then maybe you need to rethink your license.

Obviously drag cars are a different kettle of fish

Come on man, clearly 90% of the cars on the road are top fuelers. I saw 15 in the work carpark just the other day

No, a monster tacho has no more a place on a dihatsu than it does a brand new HSV.

My favorite lately would be the Old El Paso Crispy chicken fajitas.. My girlfriend doesn't like Corn Chips, so we aren't allowed Taco's often.. lol.

i don't get it, almost every car already has a tacho, if you want a shift light then go buy a shift light. don't buy the massive ugly tachos that make you look like a ********

The picture doesn't just refer to people on forums, also those people who literally say 'taco' when in the maccas carpark talking about their sweet as ride
