As some of you are aware I have been with out a holden since my fantastic VN got written off in Frankston back in November 2008. I now will be getting 5 grand to buy another car and Im trying to see what can I get for that money and what would be ideal for me as im restricted by my P's (no V8's
) and I drive Auto (Only until I get my full licence
)
Older models dont scare me as I love to get my hands Dirty... NO GIRLY CARS!!!!![]()
Maybe even a wagon?????
Your thoughts Please![]()

VS for the win, way better than the VN and the VR and with 5g you will get a pretty sweet one. I dont mind my VN but i have worked on a couple of my mates VS sedans (done services and replaced lifters and stuff) and there actually really good cars, easy to work on and love a lead foot.
lead foot you say? Ive been told I drive my cars a bit harder then most. Im not a hoon just a little heavy with my take offs. Ive been looking into the VS sedan. How do they handle with City traffic?

5 grand will get u a pretty tidy vs if not a half decent vt.
Sticking a Chev badge on any Commodore is like putting a Nissan badge on a VL
EOI....VE SS 18" wheels x4 with 5000k's on new tread, 2 of have very minimal gutter rash (previous owner) otherwise like new send me a pm if interested.
Ive heard theres problems with the VT though...

I'd second the vs also. vt you might have issues with i believe they are slightly suspect in the earlier models. Not shit heaps far from it, but they tend to have more common faults that i think are harder to work on then a vs.. With the vs you might snag a calais or berlina.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.
Half is better than over heating, and as for the thermo I'll just replace it with a better one... it will help a little. My VN never had and Suspect noises though... quietist one yopu'll ever hear... then some dick came and blind sighted me and smashed it.... ****ing turd![]()

I prefer a Calais over a berlina, you get more with a Calais and I dont know why but "Berlina" doesnt exactly push my button for me. But yeah VT definately have a lot of common problems. my exes mum had one... that one worked ok, but a mate bought on of the earlier ones and hed always be tinkering with it cause of some reason.

No I hate VL's as much as VK's cause of my ex... hes wagon was a piece of shit... turned me off those model for good.....

I recently got a 97 VS. Very fast car, runs brilliant if u have a lead foot, nice car to accelerate fast.
but within two weeks of gettin got several common problems, like whirring noises on pulleys and power steerin pump and belt tensioner stuffing up. mabye im just unlucky.
there is some feedback for ya
Just remember,
Whatever car you buy will have it's own issues... No car is perfect, Not even a new VE... Ask Tommo!
5k Look for a VR/VS Calais, Might score a 5ltr!
Cheers

I'd pick a Series 2 VS over anything else given the choice!
It's a pity you can't drive manual yet, the Getrag is a great box and the manual ecotecs are great fun to drive![]()
You should be able to find a clean VS calais for 5g. There were a few for 6-7g a couple years ago when I was looking
