Did I get booked?

OK so im driving to work this morning, its raining a fair bit. Now i see a yellow light ahead, i break and god knows how but every whell looks up and i slide through the yellow light and stop 2 metres from the traffic light on the other side. i look back over my shoulder to see a cop car on the red light stopped looking at me. I took off to clear the intersection but he didnt flash his lights or nuthing. Now im travelling in an 80 zone it changes to a 60 but i keep doin 80 cos theres sum gereatric next to me doin like 30 and i wanna get infront of him before pulling over and dropping down, b4 i pull over, i check my rear mirror. Same cop tail gating me, no lights goin though, i pull over and drop back to 60. Im freaking out at this point, but he just drives next to me, looks at my car, then he fangs off doin 90 into town! is this normal behavior for a cop? should i have been booked? Im thinking hes decided just to freak me out and leave it but any thoughts?

lol yea, i heard sum1 going on that they can book ya without pulling u over though? like they just charge the registered owner based on the number plate and then u can contest it wasnt u particularly driving

How would anyone know? He might plan on sending you a fine, he might not. We don't know what his thoughts were at the time. Best to sit tight and wait for the mailman to come.

If you were knowingly doing 80 in a 60 zone, especially in the rain, you deserve to get booked.

Haha I'm not sure actually, but I reckon he was just trying to scare you. About the intersection thing I'm not sure about but the 20kph over the limit is pretty bad..

he needs to issue a ticket to a PERSON not a car either he intends on paying you a visit when it's dry and ask who was driving the car, then do the paperwork from there (unlikely)

Sure it was a cop? If it was, then I doubt you will get booked by some devine miracle, dont think they can book you unless its on the spot, they do not have enough evidence to charge you and if they do, ask for proof. But going 80 in a 60 in the rain isn't cool, your gonna wrap yourself around a tree.

I don't know about ACT but in QLD a if a cop says in court you where doing X speed then that is all the proof required, police are classified as expert witnesses.

But I agree the 80 in a 60 zone in the wet is stupid.

yeah true 80 on a 60 considering you had just "break and god knows how but every whell looks up " which i think means you "brake(d) and god knows how but every wheel locked up". if your car is locking up going slowly through lights then i suppose its gonna lock up doing 80 in a 60km zone when you have to brake suddenly.
