    Question Need Help Choosing Tyres

Sorry to post so many threads at the moment, just got alot happening to the car and need some help!
I am getting new front tyres on my vt ss wheels.. 235/45/17
looking for good, long wearing, good traction dry/wet tyres..
    spending around $150 a tyre..
    What is everyone using?
    Can someone recommend something?
Should i be going with a directional tyre?
    Thanks.

Running a tyre like that backwards is dangerous as the belts and cords are laid to run in one direction in time the tyre will fail due to this ..

Thanks for the help here. I've got blue streak stilletto's on the front at the moment, it must be my driving style because i chewed them up, but they are only $109 here. Nexen nx3000's are only $120-$130 each, i have one of these on the back of my car. Has anyone else tried these?

nexen = cheap and nasty . could buy 235/45/17 for $99 from tyre and tube Australia ..fast moving tyre just coz they are cheap don't last don't have much grip when push comes to shove generally noisy after 20000 kms if they last that long ...

correct the camber on the rear to extent the tyre life . check out the range of yokohama tyres . most say they are to expensive but you get what you pay for in the end they will last longer and out perform most tyres on the market .

    +1.

For 17 inch you're looking at at least 230$ for decent tyres.

good traction/cheap/long wearing ... pick two.

I have just recently replaced the tyres on the VX SS, I have put on a brand called 'TOYO'
they are a Japanese made tyre, silica compound, and are original equipment on a lot of Japanese cars. After driving on Bridgestones for 8 years I can't believe how good they are to drive on, they are so extremely quiet after the Bridestones, and the ride is superb.
So far they have been fine in the wet and dry I have had no problems at all.
They meet all the load and speed ratings for the SS, and I would not hesitate to buy them again. The 4 tyres 235/45/17 cost me $700 fitted with a front end alignment, so that is around $175 a tyre, though that does include the alignment. I had several tyre places recommend the 'TOYO' but I ended up getting them from Tyrepower. Have a read of the link below.

Japanese tyres are great, my Bridgestone Adrenalin's are manufactured in Japan and are fantastic

Most of the Bridgestone tyres sold here are manufactured here or NZ (which are both closing down shortly btw) and IMO they are inferior to the Bridgestones made in Japan. My previous Bridgestone ER30's were Australian made and they were noisy as hell and unpredictable.

I have Sava Intensa's on the front of my VT & they seem so far so good. Hardley worn at all considering how hard I corner. Only cost bout $110 a tire.
