Default Hello Dear Just Commodore Family

Hi everybody Im Bernard I m 27 I live in Rockhampton. I dont have a car for now but

I m currently looking to buy a Holden Commodore the models between 97 and 2002.

Im happy to be a member of this quality forum with knowledge sharing.

MY preference will be 1998-2000 model Commodore.

I will probably travel to Brisbane to have more alternatives.

By the way I found one 99" Holden Executive in Brisbane and I will check it out and I will

    hopefully buy it.

As Im not native here I have questionmarks. I loved the style of 99 Holden Commodores.
    Few Questions:

1- In Queensland is existance of RWC of a 2. hand Holden means that tires, gaskets, front axels are in good condition and engine has no smoke or oil leakage and exhaust is okay I really want to know?

2- At buying a Holden Commodore 1999 model what are the things that I should be careful?

3- Is crom grills ( between 2 headlights ) factory original in a 99" Commodore Executive?

With introducing myself I brought 3 questions but I will be very glad to get answers.

Hope to buy my commodore and share it s photos here very soon.

    Cheers everybody..

I'd strongly recommend getting the newwest one you can afford. Having done a zillion km and had pretty much every series Commodore except VZ I have a lot of experience in the matter.

First up, there are no huge problems with the VT. They were very good straight off the bat and have proven reliable ever since. The only issue that some (some are worse than others) experience is excessive rear tyre wear. That can be minimised by fitting a rear camber kit that most suspension specialists can help you with.

My recommendation would be a VX series II if you can get the budget to stretch that far. They are very similar in styling of the VT but build quality is slightly better and there were less squeeks and rattles around the body when new. Further, they have a revised IRS setup in the rear which does reduce the rear tyre wear somewhat although does not resolve the situation totally.

In saying all this, I'd choose a very well looked after early VT over a trashed VX any day but finding a bargain in both models.
