Direct Injection

Ok, i had this question, havent done any googling for the answer, and it may be cleared up by the first reply.
With the release of the new V6 SIDI direct injection, and the large jump in power.
i was wondering if the V8s (LS1, LS2 L98 etc) have direct injection, or is it still port injection.
And if they dont have it..why not? surely it would mean far greater power and economy...

And why doesn't the V6 have cylinder deactivation like the V8
