Default My paddock basher/farm run around

Hey, just thought i'd share a video and some info about the paddock basher we have on the farm.

    Its a 1983 suzuki hatch.
Has a whopping great 546cc 3-cylinder engine...yep thats right a motor with less capacity than a coke bottle. Out of the factory it developed 19KW (25HP), which is 5HP short of our John Deere mower lol. This powerhouse is bolted to a 4-speed trans...ok enough of the sarcasm.
We picked it up from an old relative of ours and it has just on 28,000km on the clock, not bad for a 26 year old car.
Anyway, we did the usual paddock basher modifications to it, which included ripping the back seats out and anything the car did not need. and we also got to the exhaust system with a hacksaw...and you'll hear the result in the video below

Tis alot of fun, as it now has no weight on the rear wheels, making handbrakies all the more aggressive. Its also crazy in winter on the clay block we have out the back...
will upload pics later, but for now here's the video of a simulated quarter mile down the driveway lol (ET was 24 seconds at 53MPH)

Yep, starts first time too, although you do need to pull the choke out a bit.
We were considering welding up some 2mm plate steel and making a huge wing on the top, like a sprint car lol. but then we considered the saftey aspect of that...and decided against it.
I'll find some pics to put up in a tic

Here are a few pics. We got bored one day in march 09 (slow time of year on the farm) and decided to see what size wheels we could fit under the guards of this thing...we settled on mitsubishi magna wheels (4 stud)..although there was a bit of guard scrubbing haha
And the other pictures are of some fun in the clay block out the back...was pissing down with rain this day, had about 30mm that morning, and hell it was fun!
but had to wash it all down afterwards...those old cars rust up quickly but luckily this car doesnt have a single spot of rust on it!

Hah even if you dont have a paddock....all you really need is a paddock basher and a pair of wire cutters lol...Make your way into some farmers paddock in summertime, have a bit of fun
Dirt roads and paddocks are a great way to learn how to control a car. as long as its done at low speeds you're generally fine.

You could stop the Magna wheels from scraping by using spacers between the wheel and brake drum.
You could use inch plate to make some spacers. Drill wheel stud holes in the plate and put four more wheel studs in the spacer plate in between the holes that hold the plate onto the brake drum.
