Ok, not quite re-upholster, but I'm wanting to cover my VY fabric door inserts with "fur". Some of you may have seen the rest of my interior, check out my user page if you havn't and if you like the fur or not, doesn't matter.
What I'm wanting to know is; has anyone done anything like this, as I'm chasing the correct high heat grade contact adhesive (in a spray can if possible) It's not vinyl, but a fabric material and it will be glued straight onto the velour suede inserts. Any constructive advice appreciated.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Is there any reason why you're leaving the existing material in place? Just for ease of application?
You'd get a better finish if you remove the material, failing that, just visit a craft store. I'm not sure they'd have any in a pressure pack can as it'd have to be reasonably thick to penetrate the two materials and bond them. Or even speak to a friendly auto upholsterer, I'm sure they'd point you in the right direction.
I thought that you could remove the fabric insert like you can with the VN VPfrom behind the door trim. .maybe take of the door trim and have a look.
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
It's ok, I got some brush on stuff in a can that has a high heat grade. Yes I removed the door trim and got the insert out, I did the rear door tonight, worked out great just going over the existing material. Might post up some pics when finished if anyone's interested.
