Noone will be able to give you an answer. So many variables. If youve been insured with them for 20 years, surely you have a rough idea what your excess is...

i no the information is minimal but was just hoping on a rough figure.
reason i don't know is because im a youngster and was moving the parents cars around didn't realize it was in reverse and hit a tree. Absolute amateur mistake and very angry.
now i gotta pay the bill....

Ask them what their excess is? If they say they were driving I cant imagine it being anymore than a grand.

If you are not insured to drive it, you could be in for some serious punishment lol

anywhere from $0, to some as high as $2800, depending on driving history, car age etc, be best to ring them and ask, if you are unlicenced, or un-insured to drive this particular vehicle, you could be looking at a few thousand.

Lol. This is looking worse and worse now that the details are comming out

So youre on your L's, was there someone in the car with you?

If your parents dont feel like telling a white lie to their insurance company and say you were driving, be prepared to fork it out. I assume you arent named on their policy so that will add substantially to the cost, then most companies have an age excess which adds another couple of hundred or so, then the actual excess.

No you do not have a licence. You have a learners permit that restricts you to driving a car only under supervision of a fully licenced driver.

Boy are you in the brown sticky stuff.

Insurance companies won't insure an unlicenced driver (which he is given he was on L's without a licenced supervisor) no matter where the accident happened.

I wasn't referring to the insurance, I was asking whether or not an unlicensed driver could drive on private property!

Threads are not deleted once the question is answered, if that was to happen there would be no reference material on the forum.

It can be left here for future advice for other Learners who smack up their parents car when they are out

I still dont understand why he asked us when all it took was a 5 minute call to the insurance company which he had to do anyway...

Grennan: I assume given his age and lack of experience with insurance, he has moved his parents car and damaged it while they are out, done the panic pants bit, jumped on here and assumed there was a standard amount charged by insurance companies for claims.

He was therefore hoping someone would give him a magic figure so he could happily drift of to sleep knowing how much he was up for.
