If you just want protection, Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection should do you well. It'll last a few months before you have to apply it again. As it's a liquid wax/sealant you can just use a terry towel or microfibre to apply it, then buff off. I think its around $30 for a 325ml bottle.
If you want the best shine you'll want a Carnauba Wax, such as the Dodo Juice waxes or Autoglym HD Wax. You can apply those with a foam applicator or by hand, and buff off with a microfibre. Yeah they are more expensive (~$100) but the pot will last you longer then a bottle of liquid wax anyway.
To strip old wax off you can substitute your car shampoo with a strong detergent (e.g. dishwashing detergent) and/or claybar your car.
Maguire's Gold Class liquid wax. Apply every three months, it's the best stuff I've used, a bottle lasts for about 18 months.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
I don't mind the Gold Class, I was using that on my VX SS that I bought new, I changed over to the Meguiars Tech Wax, but found it much the same, I am thinking of trying the Gold Class again, I think the Gold Class might have a tiny tad of polish in it, as when I have been using the Tech Wax and came upon a mark that didn't come off with the Tech Wax, I noticed if I used the Gold Class it removed the crud I was tring to get rid off. Not sure what their new Tech Wax 2 is like.
Hey mate if want an easy wax solution TURTLE WAX CAR WASH AND WAX has carnuaba wax mixed into it if you want a nice clean ride in half an hour go for it it makes my car shine so much when I wash it I dont notice the difference from where I have waxed the car afterwards.
I am hooked.
Dear oh dearA 'wash and wax' car wash is not a substitute for an actual wax. The purpose of waxing a car is not so much to add 'shine'. That's more the purpose of polishing. Waxing is done to provide protection from the elements, fall out, bird poo etc... No wash and wax can provide that sort of protection no matter what the manufacturer claims.
There's no one best 'wax'. Each to their own. Meguiars Gold Class is a good product but I found it wasn't long lasting. I've also used Meguiars Carnauba Wax and found that it looked fantastic but after two washes there was nothing left of it.
If you want something long lasting then go for a 'sealant' rather than a wax. Sealants are man made whereas a wax comes from a plant.
Whatever you use, you can always use a spray wax straight after washing as a booster to add protection to your existing wax/sealant. At the moment I have Meguiars #26 Yellow wax which is actually part wax and part sealant. It comes in paste form and is good stuff but I thing I prefer the liquid form for ease of use.
You should consider something like this...
Car Care Products / Optimum / Exterior / Paint Sealant / Opti-Seal
I'm probably going to get me some of this over the xmas break. It's like a paint protection in a DIY bottle.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

^^^ HOW DO YOU KNOW THERE'S NOTHING LEFT OF IT AS YOU SAID IT'S NOT HOW SHINY THE CAR COMES UP IT'S THE PROTECTION LEFT FROM THE WAX HOW DO YOU KNOW THERE IS NOT an acceptiable amount of protection from whats on the car as it is.
why does a man made product better that of a natural one if I am correct most medicin's are produced from plants from the amazon jungle.
BUT I LIKE THE SOUND OF THE #26 WAX YOU TALK ABOUT.

You can easily tell if a car has a wax or sealant. After you wash a car you can run your hand over it and it kind of feels dry. If you rub it with your finger it sounds 'squeaky'. A car which still has a protective layer will feel smooth and your finger can glide over it quite easily. As well as this after wetting the car you'll notice the water will 'bead' evenly, in a uniform manner and beads are close together. Without wax you won't get this. I found with the Meguiars G.C and Meguiars Carnauba wax there wasn't much left after a few washes
As far as man made vs natural goes, Everyone has their own preference. There is a general rule in the detailing world that synthetic or man made sealants provide better protection due to the use of polymers and all that stuff. But often this comes at the cost of looks. On a daily driven car that is exposed to the elements I recommend a sealant. However while carnauba does not have to durability of a sealant it does offer great shine looks fantastic. That why you find show cars topped with a couple of layers of some sort of carnauba wax. Some manufacturers are now using various blends to try get the best of both worlds.
Just because something is natural means it's better. Take oil as an example. Synthetic oil has shown to resist breaking down better than most full mineral oils.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply :-)
Not sure what i will go with might just have to save for the dodo.
As I said with the Maguiar's gc it lasts three months, easy. I wash once a week with Maguiar's gold class wash and the water beads extremely well for the three months between waxes. Also the shine on the car remains brilliant all this time. I live in Qld and the car is exposed to a lot of sun, but not much rain. Also live within 300 meters of the ocean so it's constantly exposed to salt in the open sided garage.
As far as value for money goes I prefer to use this product. But like oils, fuels, plugs, parts, etc, each will hve their own experience with different brands and make their preferred choices accordingly.![]()

I am using Maguiars Next Generation X (the one in the blue bottle).
This works a treat and leaves the car with a nice shiny wet look appearance.
I used a product call toughseal. I put it on my Adventra when I got it about two and a half years ago and it still shines, water just beads and falls off the car - it's great, I haven't had to do anything more than just wash the car. It's not cheap, but it's paid for itself already in value for money and in my overall happiness with the way it continues to perform (and no I don't own or have shares in the company).
