Hi guys, I have seen on some cars going around that they have black tail lights. Like not just the internal bit of the tail light but the plastic outer casing that is usually clear looks like its been sprayed black or something. I have seen this on a few cars now and i was wondering how to do it and what you use. I want to do something that will set off the back of my car.
Has anyone seen this or know how its done? Cheers!

You can buy special paint to do it, it is made by VHT paints, any auto store should have it, there is a thread however where someone has sprayed the inside with a spray can and it turned out good, ill try find that thread
Yeah mate i have seen that thread i think. I am refering more to the outside of the light rather than the inside.

yeah its nightshades... and its illegal, dont do it on a cold morning either... made my old wagons taillights look frosted lol
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
illegal but heaps of people do it. As long as you can clearly see the brakes, indicators etc I dont think the coppers would care too much.
Ohhh like how some show cars have black headlights if you get me the actual plastic is black? If thats the case then im pretty sure they are made that way and you cant get that effect
you can night shade but it looks dull and cruddy, get a crash shop to do em in clear with a bit of black mixed in. that way you can get the exact shade you want and will be glossy like when they were original.
id love to do my car but im choosing not to for the fact that if i get rear ended, i dont want my insurance voided.
i tinted my lights on my vy, had cops following me, slow down to eye over my car and im yet to be pulled over.
Yeah, I have done my rear lights, never had a problem with the police (even when the highway patrol pulled me up). I don't think it looks good if you go completely black, when the sun shines on mine they sometimes appear pretty much stock.
OK thanks for the reply's guys. I will have to have a think about it i'm just worried that it might void my insurance now lol.

Yeah if you choose to do it, its easy as piss. Basically tape around the light, put some newspaper around that sucker as well. Shake Can. Spray. Let Dry. Shake Can Again. Spray if desired and want darker tint. Let dry. Shake that can! Spray Again if desired. Let Dry. Then if you really want to. Shake the damn can. Spra... You get it.
