I have a VR with the non ecotec and have starting thinking about putting it on Gas, from the few people i have talked to some people have had bad experiences with it. Currently the car goes well and has no mechanical issues or annoyances at all but it would be good to run it cheaper. Im just wondering if anyone else has done so or has any input to help me decide if i should or should not go about it.
Anyone have any input ?
my VN is on gas, it runs fair well, except needs a tune up, so at the moment, you have to rally drive it at the lights,, other then then, in a straight line its fine :P
not many people on this forum like BBQ fuel tho ahaha, but it is a cheap alternative![]()
15 years of converting cars to gas with all types of systems and tune set ups , most gas problems come from base engine tune and worn out components. HOLDEN V6's suffer from worn valve guides , vn to vx incorrect spark plugs and gaps leads breaking down and burning out stray sparks leaking injector to manifold seals , alot of V6's 180,000 kms above have worn out guides run ok on petrol as petrol is far more forgiving than gas and since a simple mixer system fills the intake manifold with a explosive air fuel mix the smallest spark or air leak will and can have a destructive effect where as the petrol is injected at the very end of the manifold and the fuel air mixture is much lower and smaller in size compared to gas from a simple mixer system
