if you spent $15,000k on a VS wagon I would laugh at you for the rest of my life haha.

My mate spent $11,500 for his 97 VS SS and probably spent $5k too much. Thing is rooted.

they pray on people just like you give out loans and finance to those you could never get a personal loan and they jack the prices up and just wait till they default then recover the car take you to court and resell the car to the next sucker in line ....

    i paid 12k for a vs exec 5.0 with T5
but then again the motor had 600 kays since a rebuild, gearbox was brand new, there is 5k worth of suspension and brakes under it. everything was either rebuilt or replaced when i bought it. i've had it a year and had no trouble whatsoever.
tell ya the truth, i dont regret it for a second

i was looking at purchasing a vx ss for $16,500. it was the nicest thing i had ever seen.

i learnt my lesson with the vp. buying the cheapest car you can find does not mean you are getting a good deal . sure, my car only cost me $4500 to purchase! bargain! once you add the $4000 i've spent on it in the past year to keep it running, not so good. i would have rather paid 'too much' for a car in better condition

My first (and current) car is a VP Berlina. Due to various reasons, I had to buy through a dealer. Bought it for $4,300.

Do you mean Paid more than you think the car is worth, or paid more than the redbook value?

I just paid $25k for a VX SS a few weeks ago.... Redbook value thinks its worth $11,500 - $13,700...

I then spent another $12k getting it on the road, in my name and insured...

So yeah, $37k on road for a 01 VX might seem expensive.... Personally i reckon its worth every penny

    INNAWE (in awe)

Noun 1. awe - an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration; "he stared over the edge with a feeling of awe"
    2. awe - a feeling of profound respect for someone or something; "the fear of God"; "the Chinese reverence for the dead"; "the French treat food with gentle reverence"; "his respect for the law bordered on veneration"

No, not at all . Ever since it was release ive LOVED the VX SS.
Ive been saving for 16 months (not going out, riding a push bike 75km every day to work etc etc) to finally save enough for a good car.

I test drove the following cars..

    2004 Monaro (VY interior)
    VX Clubsport/Senator
    VY Clubsport
    VZ/VE SS
    BA XR6T
    Evo VIII
    04 WRX STI
    Aurion ZR6
    R34 GT-T
    R33 GTR
    300C

The VX i ended up buying is probably one of the very best VXs on the road. I personally love the look, feel and sound. And of course... the performance. The biggest problem with the other cars, while some may say they are better, is i would have had to keep them stock. So they would drop their value fairly quickly, and just be another "car".

As you can imagine, if i paid $25k for a VX, its going to be pretty amazing. I'd much rather have "The best" of a model, than an average example of a better car.

Its my dream car... So its worth every penny. Some of the other cars were pretty impressive... but just didn't love them as much.

    Each to their own....

Remember that includes $12k for insurance, rego, transfer fees, rwc, new tires and rims (Potenza RE0050s), senator tacho, VY SS pedals, gear stick, handbrake, stage 3 detail at final inspection and a full service as well as a bunch of other stuff

No... I was after a specific model/version... Basically it got a factory sunroof, red leather interior + side airbags and is a Manual V8 with less than 150,000kms . Its also got a 383 stroker by CSV making 330rwkw, GTS T56 gearbox (strengthened with twin plate clutch less than 5000km ago), High performance brakes etc etc.

So the car has a lot of modifications (using HSV or high quality parts). Ill post a "show my ride" thread once i get some good pics. But needless to say.... for that sort of money is pretty a pretty decent ride

So in other words, Redbook's price really has jack shit to do with the value of your car?
