Re Programming VR-VT Keys

I was told that you can re program an old key to suit your car and im just wondering if this is true ? i have half a dozen old keys here from cars and im wondering if i can get one of them done to suit my car.

Yeah dude pretty sure you take your key and car to Holden and pay bout 100 bucks and leave it there for the day or half day or something and they do it for you.

I have a new key for mine, need to get it done.

My dad has had it done and that's what he said happens
