Hello, fello Commodories.
I was just thinkin about the difference between the SS and the standard HSV range of commodores, sedan and ute. (Pref VZ/ VY) makes.
i am familiar with the sports and luxary extras offered with the HSV range but i am more interested with the engine and proformace parts.
im unfamiliar with the specs but if anyone could give me a brief or indepth discription to the differences between the two it would be much apprechiated.
Sincerly. Beasty402.
AFAIK performance wise, its upgraded brakes and retuned engine. Perhaps higher diff gears.
is it really worth paying the extra $$ for the HSV range? or? im throwing up between a VZ or VY SS ute but im also wondering if i should pay some extra money and get the Maloo.
well with the vy's, ss' and hsvs are all ls1 5.7ltrs. but early vz ss' were ls1 5.7l and late vz ss' were l76 6.0l. all the vz hsvs were ls2 6.0ltr though.
performance parts = well for a start you have extractors, exhaust, and tune. pretty sure that's what it's always been like. but in the 6ltrs you have l76 (vz v8s), l98(ve v8s and vz thunder) ls2 (vz - ve hsv), which all differ but i forgot the differences. probably the intake manifold for a start, and then perhaps the heads. you can still make an ss faster than a clubsport and be less out of pocket though
. when you buy hsv you pay for the badge. but at the end of the day, it's up to you. what do you actually want out of a car? hsvs look insane and a lot more people will admire your ride. do you want that? or do you simply want something that goes faster?
Depends, i love the look of a maloo, but at the same time who has a spare 30k+ to spend on one.
so i was leaning towards possibly a SS mainly becuase of the cost difference.
I have the intention to stroke and mod the 5.7ltr in the SS, so again im leaning towards the SS rather than the HSV.
