I currently have a 1991 VN S2 that was my daily driver until someone ran into the front of my car bending the chassis. Everything is good apart from the chassis, so I have been looking around for a VN/VP with a dead engine/trans to put my working gear into the new car. My question is, would that engine + trans bolt straight into a VR/VS? I have seen 2 cars in SA for sale, a 89 Lexcen and a VS. The Lexcen is out of my price range at the moment, but the VS is pretty cheap as it had an engine fire. It comes with no engine or trans, which is ok since I have a working engine and trans. I am just not sure if the Ecotech engine shares the same engine mounts as the L27.
no they dont the VR/VS has a cam angle sensor, i did the same thing i had a VN when i bourght my VR
the vr motor died and i thought the same thing just swap, all i ended up doing was change the timming covers (VN one dosent have the sensor on the timming cover ), as for the gearbox the kick down is ran differently some ppl have told be you can change the ECU to suit but im not 100% on that
