just after some different views on different tyres and see what everybody is running on there car. I recently purchased some ve ssv 19's without tyres for a very good price and am on a search for a quality tyre. so far i have found the FEDERAL 595 tyre and also the FALKEN FK452 that seem pretty good and are priced roughly $250 and $280 a corner respectively. Also not sure what best size will be best running on the ssv's 245/35/r19 or 235/225, not sure if anyone can shed any light?. Really want a solid low wear tyre that is fairly quiet on the road and is good in the wet. My budget is about 250 a corner, looking at spending no more then $1100-$1200

I used to run Falkens on my car, can't remember which type - but was not happy with them. Good cornering traction, but absolutely hopeless for getting off the line. Was always frustrated as to why I couldn't do a hard launch off the line without massive wheelspin. I backed off the rear koni's, was even considering softer trailing arm bushes.
But then decided to try another brand of tyre. Got a set of Yokohama A-drive tyres and traction issues were gone! It bites hard now. And they were about the same price as the Falkens. Quiet tyre as well, and wear is very good so far,
I recently fit a pair of Bridgestone RE001's on the front as I'm planning to do an occasional bit of track work. I'm very impressed with them so far - but they are fairly pricey. They seem to be wearing ok and not noisey.
yokohama Y352 A blocks 235/60/15 up front with 295/50/15 yokohama Y352 A blocks on my WB tonner
yokohama 225/45/17 S drive all round on my W124
looks like im leaning more towards the federals, got a few mates that said good things about them and another mates mate that does drift stuff apparantly swears by them and also a few blokes frown upon the falkens.

I just scored a set of 15x7 interceptors and they were shod with near new 205/70 light truck tyres!
Not sure how they drive yet, should be wheelspin city Im guessing.
225/55R16 Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001 on my Berlina ~ $235 a corner
225/55R16 Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 (PP2) on my Dad's VY S ~ $250 a corner
Both very good.
I have the 595's on the rear, overall I am quite happy with them. They are definately a sticky tyre, and seem not to wear very much when doing burnouts etc.
how do they go in the wet?..considering you have a ute haha..

I've got the Falkens you mentioned. Not a bad tyre, decent grip in the wet and low road noise. Dunno how much to replace cos they were part of the wheel and tyre package i bought.
Well, on my 15s I have Bob Jane All Rounder's. They are shit in the wet but in the dry they are pretty good.
Well in the wet any ute will kick out if you try hard enough, but compared to the average tyres I had on the back before the 595's they are quite grippy. They only thing I don't like about them is they produce very minimal smoke when doing a burnout, other than that they are a good tyre.
I have just put a set of 'TOYOs' on the VX SS, they are made in Japan, silica compound, after the Bridgestones I took off the TOYO's are incredibly quiet, only done a few thousand on them but very happy with them so far. From memory they were around $170 a corner for the 235/45/17 size.

kenda kaisers from highway tyres here in vic. never had a problem with them. rear grip sucks a bit in the wet, but never had an issue with grip at the front under heavy braking or in the wet. cost me around 120 i think for an 18 inch tyre, but thats probably cheaper since i get a discount on them

im running 335's on my LH :P
I got a Set Of Nexen N3000 on 19"s, They are very hard and dont wear that fast, the grip is ok, but i cannot afford to be replacing them every 20,000 like the Old mans VY SS was lol.
They suit me cause i mainly do Freeway KMs
bridgestone 245/45/18
The Mad Dutchman
245/45/17 Marangoni's cost $225 a corner. Best set of tyres so far!

old goodyear eagle F1's (below) were great in the wet.
Goodyear Eagle F1's, great tyre's!!
BF Goodrich, 18's Low Profile, $250 each. Done 50k in them still got more than half thread left.
And sticks in the wet, and also whne 90 degree turning at 65km/h, as I found out last night lol.
sorry to the guys trying to sleep on hallam north road/ebeli court at 3am last night
toyo teo plus 245/35x19 great tyre, the federals arn't too bad but i always tell my customers what i would use and i'm running toyo. I can't remember pricing (i'm on holidays) but with the size you want to run that will be decided by your tyre placard on a vt-vz you need 93 w minimum. happy hunting!!
I may be crazy, but, i am happy about it!!
