    Question Waste oil

Ok... So I serviced my car the other day.
Now I have a thing of oil sitting in the garage.
Was just wondering where you guys would dispose of it?
If you just put it in old milk containers or something and throw it in the bin?
Or is there a place to take it to?

take it to your local waste management centre.. it is bad to throw it in the bin as it polutes the "environment" (even though its land fill)

Dont ever just poor it in the ground. Dumping 1L of oil contaminates `1,000s of litters of water under ground. Contact your council on where to dispose of it. I have empty oil containers, and build up a stock of it then make one trip like once a year if that.

Thats what i once said lol, but it really is not good after finding out the damage it does. But i guess its like anything, driving your car what damage it does, turning on your tv, not recycling etc etc. But since its water, and we all need clean water.

Yeah in all seriousness the best thing to do is take it to the tip. Most of them have a special area for waste oils.

You can dump up to 20L free with Monash Council, so dont know what your council has going. As has been said, try the council website or local tip.

Your local tip will have a place to tip it in free of charge since they make money off it. I just keep it in the oil containers untill I have like 10 of them, then go pour it in. there's no other way to get rid of the horrible stuff, makes you realise oil should be left deep in the Earth where it belongs doesn't it

I'll be the 100th person to say take it to you local tip. Every council has a website with information on what you can take to your tip or a link. Out local tip has a big liquid storage vat you dump your oil and stuff in at no cost. Don't chuck in the ground.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
