Default Will a VT dash fit in a VN?? and what else will fit???

    Hi all ....
iv been registered with this site for a year but never posted.

    Basically i have a VT 99 Series 2 exec wagon and a VN Wagon (originally had a v8) with a VR/VS v6 engine.

well i rolled the VT .... long story ... insurance had a spac cause it was modded... a year later i get the car back ... repaiirable writeoff. Roof is crushed in the middle from B pillar forward .. windscreen smashed.. i headlight cracked .... front guards and bonnet fuxored as well as my 2k bodykit. my enix 18inch rims came off second best but still serviceable. rest of the car is dirty but in pretty good order considering.

Now in the year it took for me to get my car back i took back off my brother a VN commodore. The story goes like this....

i bought a white Toyota lexen wagon with 140000kms. Very happy with it lent it to a friend in time of need and in 10 min of lending it he crashed it (T Boned it good) into a VR commodore ute.
later that day i find out my friend has no licence and to quote little britan "insurance says NO".

so his brother that works at a wrecking yard gets a "Kermit the Frog" green wagon body that had been paddock bashed. i found out it was a V8 body. So we swap the motor/box/diff ( i had a lsd in the lexen) and we got it running *yay*

after a while and not happy considering all the $h!t i had to go through i decided i would buy a VT... got the VT and loved it. Sold the VN to my brother, Told him about the whole story and made him promise to take care of it or i would take it back. ($1000 brother rates)and never looked back........until
    rolled the commodore.
got a $400 skyline wagon to run around in ( yes i love the wagon ) and then found out to my dismay that my d!ck brother had pretty much run the VN into the ground and had blown the engine and replaced it and was just thrashing it.
So i took it back. Not like he doesnt have access to other cars and i told him i would.

So now i have a thrashed VN Wagon ( no longer green but black) and a rolled VT wagon.
hence my question.... i know i can swap engine/loom/ gearbox and wheels, disks, arms, suspension (at least on the front) but what else can i swap?

WILL THE VT DASH FIT IN THE VN?

I really want to make a good car out of the 2 and the cost of cutting and welding the roof and pillars in the VT is very prohibitive. I would do it but i would need to buy a Tig and/or prolly hire someone to weld it (im not that good)
    advice...help...criticisim...suggestions....please ....anything...?
    Thanks for reading

The VT was a new design from the ground up. Some mechanical components may be interchangeable, but the chassis itself was completely new, and as such I very much doubt the VT dash will fit anywhere except the on back seat.

+3 wont fit without major major work.

I'd buy a blown up engine VT and swap all your good gear into that.

With enough time, effort, and expense - anything is possible, but it's really isn't worth the bother. Like 88GreenVN says, get a VT with a dead engine and swap the engine in there. Can't imagine it'll cost you more than $1500 if you can find one.

Auctions, eBay, CarSales.com.au (and other car sale websites), wreckers are all good places to look.

yeah iv been trawling the local wreckers around here (on the nsw/qld border atm tweed heads) and no luck.

So you reckon out of all things just get a new basic shell and go from there?
