Hi,
I am posting this on behalf of my little brother (18). As most of you know P Plate Laws in QLD Stop drivers like him from driving a Supercharged or Turbocharged Car.
Anyways, a mate of ours has offered his 3.8 CRS Side Mount Supercharged VK to us for a really good price. It is currently registered and mod plated.
My question is, since this supercharger can be toggled on and off, will he be allowed to drive it, toggled off?
Because if the supercharger is off, doesn't that make it a normal fuel injected buick?
Sure your paying for a supercharged rego, but its not being run as a supercharged engine (if that makes sense)
I am only posting here today for help, not to be a law bending smart arse. Its just for the price and work done its a absolute bargin.
Thanks,
im guessing since its actually bolted to the motor it doesnt matter if its on or off.... so if i pull 2 leads of my v8 that makes it a legal v6?.....
as said before, it would probably be illegal, because how would the police know if u had it on or not?
Was searching ebay and found this VR SUPERCHARGE HOLDENV6 COMMODORE VK VL VN VP VS VT VX - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 24-Jan-10 14:52:39 AEDST)
Does anyone still think this is impossible?
(Just gauging interest)
Just posting some food for thought over the weekend.
Was planning to contact the department of transport first thing on Monday
id say definately not legal.

Why not buy the car, unbolt the blower, put it away till your bro is off his P's, then bolt it all back on. Not a hard job at all.
