I am looking for a quote of buying/buying and installing a stage 2 shift kit. Not sure whether to go the Transgo or the B&M just yet. Whilst on the topic of that which one would you guys recommend/prefer.
On the main topic of this thread I was wanting to know if anyone could recommend any Transmission shop in Melbourne that they have dealt with before. I have heard mates talk of shops that have really done dodgy work but I wanted to get a wider range of opinions and see if you guys had any shops that they would recommend.
Cheers in advance guys!
Surely someone in Melbourne has had work done on their Transmission???????????? Anyone!!!!!
I know a VT Clubby with a shift kit installed. They love it, only problem is the previous owner got it installed, so no idea who did it. But i'm fairly sure it was around the Eltham area.
Hmmm thats a start......There are alot of dodgy joints out there, so I really want to know of a 'Reputable' place that does good quality work...
Not to mention getting an opinion of a Transgo vs B&M stage 2 shift kit...
Ive heard good and bad things from Transtyle in Hallam. They do a lot of work and Ive heard a lot of about them, but theyre work always has mixed reviews.
Ive used Eastern Automatics in Bayswater, they weren't very helpful when I asked questions and raised issues with the transmission, but hey the got the job done.
So Transgo vs B&M Stage 2?????????????
whichever i guess they cant be that different.
ive heard nthing but bad things about trans style like a mate of a mate got his c6 (i think) done there and he picked it up, nailed it up hallam rd and cooked it near the pub...
turns out they hadnt filled it with fluid let alone road test it!
ive had my vs box built by fluiddrive in couburg and its been rebuilt under warranty twice and is booked in yet again due to some noises its making that im not impressed with.
and i havent asked them to build me a "race box' either, just some h/d bits in there and the shifts firmed up a bees dick cos the faactory shifts are too slushy1
Yeh, nothing but bad reviews from Transtyle. My dad had his Turbo 350 built 3 times there many years ago before he took it somewhere else and got it built properly.
I've had good dealings with Bayswater Automatics, we used to have a business in Bayswater and we used them all the time. Very good service.
Transtyle rebuild my trimatic and it would only take off in second gear unless you planted the foot .
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
+1 for Bayswater Automatics.
Very helpful, extremely knowledgeable and good quality work!
i will be buying a shift kit fairly soon and was also wondering, transgo or b&m
Race Shift Automatics in Epping.
I got my stage 2 shift kit done there about 1 month ago and i couldnt be happier, they got it to the exact tightness i wanted. a mate of mine got his done there months back and its still going really good, no problems. no problems with mine either.
i highly recomend this place, they did mine for 300, included a Stage 2 Corvette Servo Shift Kit & Transmission service. i have a VX Exec II by the way.....
hey all,
yeah i have a turbo 400 tranny in my vb and i just bought a stage three shift kit of ebay from transgo.
it all looks good doesnt seem to be bad, when i bought it i went for price the transgo was a a touch more expennsive so i went by the theory you get what you pay for
that and b and m didnt have a stage three that i could find =]
and i also am looking for someone to fit it i have herd good about accurate automatics in bayswater.
if u find anywhere that does a good job can u let me no thank you
