Hey guys for the life of me I can't locate my radio pin. I would like to take off the steering wheel but don't want battery disconnected for too long in case it asks for pin code apon reconnection of battery. Do you reckon that if I took my vin number, rego papers and receipt of ownership to Holden that they would give me the pin for free? Or would they sting me in the ring as if I was a ******** that would be happy to pay $$$$$$ for the service provided by them?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
I would say they will charge you, nothing is ever free anymore. But ring them and ask, you never know
Yep, thanks Edals I'll ring them tomorrow, just hate gettin ripped off by dealers! (or anyone else, for that matter!)
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Ok then who knows if having the battery disconnected for 4-5 hours means that I'll need the pin? Or is it only if the radio is removed from the vehicle? Need definate answers please.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
as soon as you disconnect the battery you will need the code
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Should be as soon as you disconnect the battery, but there may be a back up for a short period. We have a Snap On scan tool at work and we can extract radio codes so you don't need to go to a dealership, most workshops should have a scan tool that will extract it. Other option, ring Holden customer service and give them the VIN number and they should be able to give you the code, provided the radio is original.
Hmmmm, I know in the VR and VX soon as i disconnect them i need the codes, im just glad the previous owner of the VR wrote it in there audio book
I hope you don't leave the audio book in the car....Sort of defeats the purpose of having a coded radio![]()
oh no come steal my cassette player out of my VR lol. THe VX i have away though. Anyway people want the big DVD GPS systems now

I've removed the standard 6 stacker from my car a couple of times and it's been on the bench for some hours before replacement, and the pin codes weren't needed when it was re-installed. I suspect that somehow, the BCM comes into play and as long as the correct player is connected, it will be enabled automatically.
If for some reason this isn't the case for you, Holden will provide the pin for about $20 if you can produce ownership proof and the car's original logbook.
