Heya,
I currently own a 1998 VT acclaim sedan (dual fuel), which is off the road due to a buckled wheel and bent hub, now i had just spent $1600 on it to tune the motor, replace oxygen sensors and engine mounts, and i had got a quote to fix the compressor for $1200.
However to repair the hub, and hoping that the cradle for the diff isn't bent will cost at least $700.
but i'm thinking about getting rid of the VT and either buying my mate's 1991 VP wagon, which has done over 500k, but the motor has been completely rebuilt, with extractors etc as well as being dual fuel and lowered.
So if anyone's got any advice, whether or not i should keep the VT or get rid of it, it'd be greatly appreciated
Keep the VT bro. Even with a fresh motor the rest of the VP is still 19 years old with over 500,000ks.
Don't get down about having to spend money on your VT (except the $1600 tune, wtf mate?). Shit happens, and look on the bright side - those parts are unlikely to fail again any time soon because they will be new![]()
Even if the motor has been done think of chassis, suspension, diff exhaust brakes etc still alot to go wrong with a car that has half a million k's on it.
