Default Does anyone here work for Holden Spare Parts or Distributors?

    Hi all,

I'm after someone who works on the 'inside' so to speak. I need some info on a part and just want to ask them/you a couple of questions.

PM me or reply here and I'll PM you for privacy.

Nothing sinister, just can't get a straight answer from other outlets.

    Thanks

    yeah good point.

My issue is I have a WL Caprice and the rear Panasonic dvd player has just lunched itself. I've tried many places for repairs and they all say nup, won't do it, chuck it away and buy a new one. (mine's an early WL btw with the Panasonic unit and they changed to Blaupunkt units someway through the model run)

I don't mind buying a new one but I'm having a hard time finding one. AMCAP over here in WA can't give me a straight answer as to whether or not they can still get the Panasonic or Blaupunkt units (and have said they're about $1200!!! too) and whenever I ring Panasonic direct they just try to sell me a TV - bloody useless..

So I guess what I want to know is:

    1) can the Panasonic units still be sourced from anywhere?(and at a reasonable price)

    and/or

    2) Would the Blaupunkt units that replaced the Panasonic units be the same fitment? ie: could I just buy a Blaupunkt unit and fit it - are the harness' and connectors the same? Do they work with the same dvd screens if the original unit was Panasonic etc?

(I can get a new Blaupunkt unit direct from Bosch for $450)

Anyway, any help would be mighty appreciated as I'm just about to go and buy a Blaupunkt unit but I'm worried it may not work with the rest of the system.

If it helps, the dead Panasonic unit's model number is 92159059, serial number is 226627 and the reference number is CN-VG3380ZC.

Thanks very much for any info!

hey matt, i am in the same boat as you...i recently bought a wk caprice and my panasonic dvd player is dying out also... my sound is cutting out through the left side of the car whilst playing dvds or running the ipod.

i was wondering if you heard anything regarding the blaupunkt dvd player to replace the panasonic....

i got off the phone to holden this morning and they were saying i was looking at $1275 for the dvd player which is an absolute joke...

i was speaking to a friend who owns a car audio business and he was saying i can put in an aftermarket dvd player but its heaps fiddly due to so much wiring involved

Hi mate, nah I've had ABSOLUTELY no help at all from anyone. I also got the ridiculous price from Holden on the panasonic and they even said they weren't sure if they could even get them anymore. So I went in search of the blaupunkt ones and found them at Bosch Australia for $440 but I was worried they wouldn't fit if I bought one (Bosch can't tell me squat either). In the end I sold the car (just yesterday actually) so never got to figure it all out. Sorry I couldn;t tell you more..
