I have a 90 vn s commodore with the manual gear box, What I would like to know is will a manual vx engine fix the 5 speed that i all ready have?
He's possibly refering to flywheel design on the engine fitted to a manual as opposed to an auto...
I just love the way other motorists on the highway think it's an unmarked cop car.........
And Yes, it is a manual
I believe the Ecotec will mate up to the T5, but the flywheel and so forth will be different
All i want to know is, is there any difference between the vn and the vx gear boxes? I want to put a vx engine in my vn and I have a manual vn.
VS S1 came out with a T5, the VX had a Getrag I'm pretty sure. You will need an 8 bolt flywheel, (not the 6 bolt that the early VN's had). Even then, you might need to find an Ecotec flywheel (they were internally balanced or something), but I' not sure if this is true or if it matters.
