Has anyone painted their plastic bits under the doors on a VY/VZ? You know the pieces where the skirts can go on. If so, can they be easily taken off to paint? Would I need a plastic primer? I'm thinking about doing them the same color as the car. (Quicksilver)

i like your thinking i want to do the samething wouldnt it need to be put in an oven if you want it to last long term
Take it too any panel beater, I was going to get mine colour matched for $150.
But i decided to get the SS skirts for an extra $180
Check out my ride!
Im a panel beater they are easy to get off ,remove the front mudflap , theres some srews underneath the skirt and at the back undo these , open both doors , under the weather strip on top of the skirt more screws undo these and off it'll come . To paint prep by giving a good scrub with scotchbrite (available from an automotive paint supplier ) if a solid colour red will do , if a clear over base use a grey one , give them a real good scrub . Prime with plastic primer then coat with your colour
So could I give them a really good scrub, possibly a light sand, wipe them with grease remover and then straight to the plastic primer? And will any good plastic primer be compatible with spray paint that's been made up in a spray can, like the stuff that Autobarn and that can mix to your paint code while you wait? Cheers.

pretty much. i think the primer has to be the same enamel or acrylic as the paint. i got my skirts done last year and it instantly looks so much better, ya wont regret it
Yeah I've seen a few done, looks awesome. I want to do it myself as I love doing this sort of stuff to the car. I think plenty of clear coat will help protect the finish well, too.
