I'm trying to fit new small end bearings (ecotec), but upon measuring them they are too small to accept the gudgeon pin. I've checked with the supplier and they are definitely the right product. I've been told they have to be honed/reamed to size, is this the case?
I thought little end bearings were just bushings that are pressed into the rod?
then to fit the gudgeon pin youhave to heat up the little end and interference fit the gudgeon pin?
how far out are they?
Yes it is a bush in the end of the rod. Some engines have the heat-and-press type but the ecotec is a floating design where the rod should pivot on the gudgeon and the gudgeon also pivots in the piston bosses. They are out by 0.5mm
