I've recently started putting E10 in my car (coz its cheap), but people have been telling me it's crap. Personally, I don't see any difference in economy or power, but I've heard that it attracts moisture to the fuel system. I drove to Queensland and back only on E10 and the car made no extra noises or sick sounds.
If anyone knows any pros or cons, let me know.
Asking questions like that will start a war....
I can see where this thread will end up lol
Good luck usin ur e10 m8
Mayaswell start looking for a new engine![]()
my fuel pump shat it self after a tank full of that e-10 crap.
Try searching......
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Surely Shell would've done some pretty extensive testing before putting E10 on the market. I would'nt put it in a European sports car, but for the good old Aussie six banger it should be fine, right?
It's not like it's the only fuel I use, I do about 1 tank of E10 to 1 tank of unleaded. But as a cheaper option, it definately saves on the weekly fuel bill. (and don't go on about how the engine will blow up because of E10) I need some proof before I believe that BS.
mate for the cost it really doesn't matter. the extra 10cents or whatever it is for premium is only going to cost an extra couple of hundred a year in fuel bills and its a tried and tested fuel. E10 destroys rubber hoses...makes them go like hard. You lose power and fuel economy. IMO
if it is crap then why are the running the V8 supercars on it now and that is 85%
There are a lot of differences between an everyday car and a V8 supercar. Do you tear down your engine after every trip?

And yes guys... e10 has been tested.
The results were that the extra cost of premium is worth it, e10 uses a bit more.
Holden did their own tests GOOGLE it. Im pretty sure its also been covered on this forum before.
Its also an imported petrol designed for european cars. not australian although half you seem to be forign im dam sure of it. Or as minux says... Is it school hollidays already?
Premium ftw!
Theres going to be a big difference between 10% ethanol and 85%.
A mate of mine who spends a fair bit of time at the strip gave a glowing report of some high percentage ethanol fuel (80% i think) but won't put E10 anywhere near his cars.
Personally I've only used unleaded and premium in my VP so can't really give any first hand opinions on the matter.

2. 1993 VP BT1 3.8L - Now wrecking for parts!
3. 1991 VP Berlina V8 - RIP
Looking for a good condition VN - VS V8!!!
I dont touch it, I also work in a petty station and never reccomend it to customers. It attracts/creates moisture when getting transported and stored, so it does have moisture in it. It is only 2c cheaper than regular unleaded, so your saving all of about a dollar when filling up. Ive heard it makes rubber engine parts crack etc.
