I've been looking for a vn ss lately and found a couple I like on eBay but it seems after checking the vin numbers most of them have "vnk" in them to the best of my knowledge I think this means they are actually an executive even the rest of the vin usually has the code for a 3.8L
how do they get away with not listing it as a replica?
Because the onus is on you to verify it is correct. Don't go on eBay unless you want disappointment. Most of the time the car will not be what you think it is (i.e condition, km's etc.). There is a dedicated VN SS forum which I won't post but isn't hard to google that may have a VN SS that you are looking for.
an ss is just a fancy exec anyway. same vin numbers...
Yeh I know there basically the same as an exec and I would have no problems buying a replica because most of the time that's where the best quality is due to people restoring them to what they are.

Oh yeh and there's no way in hell I would just bid for a car and get it delivered I just use it in a similar way to carsales and trading post etc to organize an inspection and stuff
