    Default vx clubsport

hey i just want the opinon of you guys.....

ive got a vs ss, lowerd, extractors, full exhaust system, rims ect... all the basics really

now ive been looking to buy i vx clubsport perferbly worked and low ks (100k under) and ive got a mate at work who has exactly what ive been looking for, black, manual, lowerd worked clubby putting out around 400horses to wheels, and for a long time ive been asking to buy it, hes was willing to sell for 25,000 (abit out of my price range), but just recently he has been hearing this sound coming from the engine, we both thought it was a colapsed lifter, but according to the opion of 2 backyard mechincs and 1 surposed engineer its a cracked piston meaning big bucks (5500 for new ls1 and getting it back to the power it has at the moment) , so he has now purposed this offer to me, if i trade in my vs ss with him he will sell me the clubby for 13,000.

Now my question is will this be a bad move, what do you think???????????????????????

13k is big money for something that is knackered.
Do you think your VS is worth more than the 8grand he's offering you?
offer him 8k with the trade-in, sounds a bit more reasonable

Mate, i'd look around for a clubby and do the mods yourself. You'd probly get out of it for cheaper and peace of mind.

VS SS's still go for anywhere between 6-10 grand depending on condition. 170,000 is reasonably good for a VS.

Hes offering you a 25k priced car with atleast at VERY LEAST 5 grand in repair bills. (Could easily amount to another couple of grand with labor extra parts and anything else that needs to be fixed in the meantime).

If your confident you can get the car fixed cheaply, I would maybe get him down to around 10 + trade, that would be worth it. But if its going to cost you an arm and a leg in labor and he wants 13 grand + your car, id be looking elsewhere.

thats tuff mate but what it sounds like is his motor may have piston slap and as gen3's have an all alloy block, heads well all alloy motor there really no insulation that a 5litre has so thats probly why but even tho you can get a gen3 for **** all i can get a vt ss gen3 with 145k for 4k written off a whole car and a motor complete with ecu etc out of a r8 clubby for 3500-4k so have a think about it tell him 12k or 11k if his desperate he'll take it thats my 2 cents

    alright update

the clubby has a bottom end bearing gone, which means full rebuild, i now can get the caar for 12,
i hqve spoken to wa performance and they roughly quoted me around the 10 mark for a new engine, forgeing, putting everything from the last engine back into the new one and more performance mods, so all up with the car and every thing ive spent i would be looking at 27(12 for the car, 4 for my car and 10) for a really worked vx clubsport with a new engine and all new internals ?????????

    26k for a thrashed clubby...I'd pass.

Bottom ends dont just go for fun. Id say its had a tough life, so remember this, if the engine is ****ed, i dare say driveline is too.

Thats the key, a mate of mine bought a SS with the engine in a bad way, and replaced the engine thinking that would solve everything. End result was new engine, clutch, transmission, LSD, etc etc.

so get another motor like i said 4k and why is it 12k + your car when the motor in the clubby is ***d id only pay 12 for it your the one whos gotta **** around with it and after you change your motor you got a whole motor to wreck bit of money there also that quote sounds over priced get another crank chuck it in the car will be fine
