What you do is, just take the pod off completely, so your intake pipe, is not covered, you get a good sound, and better air flow, thus making better power and economy.

K&N Products are great, and not overpriced for what your getting. If they do not make the size you are after i'd buy drift, but always K&N First because their cotton weave filters work very well when properly oiled..
Not sure on the whistle though mate, possibly a hole in your mate's pod filter??

Out of curiosity why do you have 2 pod filters?
EDIT: Nix this I saw your pictures in the MACE V6 thread.

i got a drift pod and mine whistles/ sucks really loud....its freaken annoying thinking of reverting back to standard air box....i thought all ecotecs mad that noise with a pod?
just saw u have a vr oops...
its not the ecotec that whistles, its the pod, my mate has a vn s2,
no to the statement above about the whole in the pod there is no whole in it, its how they are when you buy them new
and honestly who is that stupid to run it without a filter? espceially where i am, dust storms galore, as well as locus plaiges at the present

yeah i pick one up at supercheap some crappy $20 on just to see how it went lol
and this was on my ss and that mother****er was so dam loud i took it off vertually straight away, sounds so crap
Maybe its because you have twin t/b's with twin filters, splitting the air up going into two intakes, not just the one.
Making it basically half the amount of air going through each throttle body?
Slowing the air speed through the pod/filter down?
Just out of curiosity, why would you want your pods to whistle?

Huh? Something different? Well yes, it certainly IS different lol. You want an irritating whistling noise coming from under your bonnet that can get you more attention from the Police, who can hand you a nice defect notice for having pod filters in the first place? Well yes, i guess it IS different.

Yeah i had a pod on my first car the day after i got my P's, then the day after that i took it off and put the airbox back in because the pod noise sounded shit and made me look like i was pretending i had forced induction, yet sounded NOTHING like it lol.

But to answer your question i think cheap ones whistle and expensive ones e.g K&N dont whistle because people would rather spend the money not to hear the whistle if you get me.
stop droolin
I'm a fan of a good quality pannel filter in the existing airbox (K&N or BMC). Looks neater, plus is legal. Drift is just a cheaper substitute. No where near as good...
I just love the way other motorists on the highway think it's an unmarked cop car.........
And Yes, it is a manual
well i got twin throttle bodys and my whisels that bad i hate it and i always wanted a pod to whisle but its a headache
have you got pics? would love to see

changed my mind after all your feedback, whistle would be annoying all the time, just sticking with the same setup
