hi all my vk copped heaps of dents way too many to count in the recent storms and my roof and bonnet look like sh*t has anybody tried one of those ebay suction pullers i dont want to waste my money on something that dosent work so i thought id see if anybody on here has tried one ...before i buy one.
doubt it would work on the hail stone damage. The cheapest way would be to find a bonnet the same colour if you can.

I'm pretty sure those eBay suction pullers are meant for the odd few small dents you have on your car, don't think it would help much with hail damage.
They only help with large pushed in type dents that don't stretch the metal much, but you still are left with a crease most times. Hail damged either has to be beaten out or filled in.
I had my VE repaired by one of those paintless dent repair guys (insurance job). Excellent job and nobody would be any the wiser.
Reaper
thanks for your replys looks like its filler and respray eventually (not insured) no point looking for a new bonnet the same colour (custom paint) which makes it worse ....
I wouldn't use filler on a bonnet. Try knocking the dents out and file finishing them.
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
if ya gonna bog it, and it needs a respray, why wouldnt you just get another bonnet, and respray that.. mildly confused.
Hi Reaper,
Do you have any pics of your hail damaged VE?
I would be interested to see what kind of damage is repareable as mine has hundreds and hundreds of dents on the roof, bonnet, boot, pillars and on the top parts of the front quarter-panels from yesterdays hail storm in Sydney.
Cheers
My daughter's Mazda 3 got caught it the big hail storm that hit Melbourne about 12 months ago, it had close to 60 dents on the roof, 20 or so on the bonnet and several on the boot and sides. RACV sent it to a PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) they had flown in from Sydney, they did a brilliant job on it, absolutley perfect, I have gone over the car under fluro lights and there is not a blemish any where to be found, brillaint job. There was about $2500 damage to the car. Talking to the guys that did the work they told me that all they do is hail damage, and have been to France, USA and several other countries when big storms hit as they are there for 12 months plus repairing cars. Sort of Hail Chasers. These guys really new there stuff.
When i my VX got hit by Cricket ball sized hail 2 years back they did paint less dint repair, perfect job, cant even tell. From what i saw they used special buffer tools behind the panel and rubbed the dint out. Hate to think how much the repair was but also smashed my wind screen. Guys were called Aussie Hail and they travel the world for the hail seasons.
Guys
Its very hard to get dent's out in a panel thats hard to get to each side, i.e. a & c pillars, what they will do is put a skim of bog over it then paint it, also unless the guy is really good at his job (most are not) you wiill get a wavy finish if you have to many dents in say a bonnet of a new model car, its hard to see but if you put under the correct light you can see,
Remeber when 1000's off cars get hail and everyone wants there cars fixed some short cuts come out

OP father has a ebay sucktion thing. i used it on my excel that literally dents when ppl lean on it (quality stuff them hyundais)
it made something bad look better thats all really took out a major dent but left lines and creases this said id probly go to a professional depending on what your car is worth. if its not insured then it might not be worth fixing.
9 month old thread but i got a new bonnet so dents are fixed there, as for the roof ive learnt to live with them. dont want to waste the cash fixing something that would cost more than the cars worth.
Not 100% true. Pillars are some of the more difficult dents for PDR, but a decent dent guy will still be able to get almost any hail sized dent out without needing filler or painting. Even then, any repairer who simply skims bog over hail dents won't be in the business much longer.
But yes, if you have many BIG dents on large panels, it can end up looking a little rippled. Hundreds of smaller dents should almost always come out fine though.
Not sure why you specify "new" cars either. A 2010 BMW or Merc will come up better than a Corolla or Tiida a few years old
