    Default Looking at buying a 4x4 ..

    Hey,
I am looking at selling my motocross bike and buying a four wheel drive. I would have anywhere from $2k-$5k to spend and i'm looking at GQ patrols for that sort of money. Can someone point me in the right direction with a 4x4 for this sort of money?
Would be looking to use it offroad 90% of the time as i have my commodore for around town.
So, i would be looking at putting a bit of work into it with lift kit, muddies etc

Would a gq patrol do everything i need for this sort of money?

    Thanks.

I looked at a short wheel base GQ Patrol a few years ago that was an absolutely disgusting baby spew orange kinda colour, but it had the CB, the big wheels and a lift kit in it and it was a manual, and all he wanted was $4300.00 for it.

there are some great bargains out there, just don't buy the first one you see, take time to look around and keep looking everywhere.

Cheers mate, yeah i agree you never buy the first car/bike you see.

I like the look of the swb better than the lwb but the lwb its alot more stable i think

hhhmmmmmm the only long wheel base i would buy is the 80series landcruiser. I had one for awhile, and it was the toughest bloody thing i've ever been in. Drove over just about everything, pulled heaps of people out, drove up 90deg inclines.......had it up on a 2 inch lift kit with the massive tyres on her too.

Patrols i'm not too sure about the LWB, i've heard they can be a little dangerous whilst turning, or if you don't handle it right???

Can anyone confirm this? I can't remember where i heard it now...

I have a GQ LWB and it handles great, even likes the corners too.It only has a 2in lift and is suprisingly good on the road but is a bit under powered.
If you go too high they car get top heavy and more care is needed.I also have a SWB landcruiser that i was getting on the road until i got the Patrol but they can tip pretty easily on a steep incline but will go just about anyware as they are very short.
