Default Brake pads - am I getting ripped off?

    Hey,
I have a 2006 VZ SS thunder 6.0ltr and have it booked in for a 60,000km service, just got a phone call from Holden saying that my brakes only have about 2mm left and that I need new pads but they are a upgraded brake (which there only stock) and that it's going to cost me $270 for the rears and $390 for the front! Am I getting ripped off huge!

Yeah that's too much. You could get something like Bendix Ultimates fitted for that! Holden pads are garbage as well.

On the 7th day, God created Holden, then on the 8th day, God created Ford, to keep idiots out of Holden's.

Talk to GSL (forum sponsor), they'll be able to sort you out at a very reasonable price.

I guess it depends on your driving style/habits, if you drive and brake hard a lot, or take it the track days for some laps, then go for those.
If not, the Bendix GCT's might be good enough, they're a general purpose pad, but still good quality, and cheaper than Ultimate's.

Hahah.. they tried that with me at around the same kays. The fronts lasted for another 10K and the rears lasted another 20K. I ended up buying pads and slotted DBAs for the front for about 300 bucks, so in short.. you are getting ripped at those prices. Pads are not hard to change yourself, there would be a how-to on the forum here somewhere.

    I'd expect a wife/mistress for that price.

Seriously talk to GSL and change them yourself. Piss easy and you know it's done to your standard.

Yeah,i know for a fact my father drove a van all day every day never really drove his car since the last service, and guess what ,you need new brakes, lol,i would check most of this stuff out first and even get a few quotes there free before i'd pay for anything done to the car.And i think as a driver you should have some idea if you brakes need doing.
