So I need some advice on buying a car But I'm not sure if I want a VH sle or a VY berlina.
I have weighed up the pros and cons of each and have decided on what the requirments of each car would have to be.
VH - Preferably one that has had some level of restoration, there are a few around that have had complete rebuilds for around 10 - 20k. similar to 1983 HOLDEN COMMODORE SLE VH Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au
No rust
Preferably manual
Road Legal
Cons - Old car
No climate control, traction control, cruise control and other luxuries.
Wont handle as good as a Vy
Old car issues like rust ect, thats why I plan on buying one with some level of restoration.
Im sure there are more but i am being brief.
if i bought a Vy it would have less than 150 on the clock, good paint and in generally good nic.
I know it would be smarter in a way to simply buy a newer car because I wont have to deal with old car issues but I have always loved the vh model and have never wanted a car more than one.
Im in a real pickle here any advice?
thanks Ben
Edit: I plan on eventually putting an ls engine running through a TR6060 box despite which car I choose.
What do you want it for? A daily? A weekender? You've got to think about availability of parts, things you need to use the car for (towing, family, work), drivability for general use, etc...
I will be a daily driver, but it would be driven less than 100kms between mon to fri. And I want to keep this car a while so It wont be fitted with a cage because I might have a family. It needs to be comfortable on the street, but also track driven occasionally with lots of power.
My opinion would be to go with a newer car, mostly based on newer car safety features if, as you mentioned, you may be having a family.
That's only because I put safety before performance, when it comes to carrying passengers.
As well as the benefits of the better fuel economy of a newer car.
But that's just me, others may not think this way though.![]()
No worries mate.![]()
Could also buy the newer model as the 'family' or daily driver car, then maybe later have a second car(the VH) as a track car?
Just another option.
Yea that's a good idea because I get the luxuries and safety of a newer car. Ill be in the army soon and I should have plenty of cash flowing around so I was thinking of buying a house with a big garage and a VH just to much around with myself and turn it into a burnout/drag car. Living at with the parents at the moment they wont let me have a project car![]()
