Hey guys.
Im looking to buy a vs ute for my first car and have seen one in a car yard. the yard is "skygrove pdy ltd" or something, located in moorabin, Vic if anyone wanted to know.
The car is a 95 Vs ute with 190k's with reg+rwc for $6,999. looks ok
Im pretty sure i would be able to knock the price down, but what are some good ways to do this and what sort of things should i look out for when buying from a car yard?
make your first offer 20% lower than what they are asking for, and then have like a maximum you would pay in the middle n go from there, make sure the car has the stuff the dealer claims, dealer claimed by car had a LSD but it doesnt, but for what I paid for my car, im not gonna complain.
ohk 20% sounds good.
and i dont even know what an lsd is haha, but thanks for the advice champ
my advice is when buying a car, dont account for one deal only.
search around and put out many many deals. one is bound to bite.
stop droolin
shouldnt be payin anything close to $7000 for any vs anyway especially with pretty much 200,000km on the clock, get a better deal
I sold my 2000 model series 3 white vs s pac ute on here for the same price, with reg n rwc...
keep loking you will find something better privatly
yeah i wouldn't pay 7000, id get it down a fair bit lower.
but its suprising they are around this mark, even privately all vs ute's have been around 7, some more, and theyve almost all had more than 200,000k's.
190,000 is actually reasonably good, ive been told
By the way this ute is a manual, so if i could get a good condition manual with 190ks for like $6000 i'd be more than happy.
just took a look in the classifides, nothing really comes close.
i live in melbourne, vic.

Ask what there warranty covers and get written proof that the car has a warranty if you buy it.
ohk, like a warranty the yard issues incase the car ****s up?
do many places do this?
cheers
Alright will definatly have to keep that in mind.
cheers everyone!
Have the car inspected before you buy. Here in SA the RAA does them, but I am sure there is the equivalent in your state. It's worth the money for peace of mind I think when buying second hand. Gives you a comprehensive list of faults etc.
Oh so im guessing they pretty much tell you if its worth it or not.
do you know approx how much they are and what the vic equivalent is? i have no idea what to search lol
RACV should be able do something for you, it'll cost a bit but worth it if you don't have a mate who can help you out with inspecting it.
Yeah racv was my guess. Alright well if i can convince my dad to go look at it il consider them. cheers everyone
Jake: I am not sure how much it costs, but the way I look at it is peace of mind. You get a comprehensive list of faults and what should be covered under any warranties. You can buy knowing you have a mechanically decent and road worthy car over just taking a risk and two months later it blows up.
Yeah its a good point and sounds like something worth doing. i bet car yards hate them though :P
A reputable car yard would encourage inspections as they have nothing to hide and are staking their reputation on selling quality vehicles. If you look around the larger yards you will see signs stating that independent inspections are welcome.
