I have searched the manual and looked and looked under the bonnet. Can someone please tell me where is the oil filter on a h commodore 6cyd model. Please help as I have the new one but can't find it.
If you can't find it, you probably shouldn't touch it.
Its massive and hangs of the side of the motor.
Edit:
HZ Commodore?
You mean VZ or do you have a Kingswood???
Even blind Freddy can see it.
good ol hz commodores.
Australia. Love it or leave it
Here you go, its just below the distributor

It's A Holden Thing - You Wouldn't Understand
Yeah seriously if you couldnt see that, i dont know if i would be touching it, atleast get someone who knows what they are doing to give you a hand. Don't mean to sound rude and not putting shit on ya, But youve gotta learn somehow and seizing a motor because the oil filter o ring has squished out from over tightening or the old o ring stuck to the filter head is a BIG learning curve.
Cheers Josh
Nice to see this is a friendly forum like a lot of forums around......... Its actually for my elderly father that likes to tinker with his cars. He has always owned Holdens and has been tinkering with all of them over the years. Its not something I would do but dad being dad does. He currently has 2 Holden's the VZ commodore as well as a 2009 Holden statesman. With a bit more research it looks like the oil filter is (quote of the net) "inside a alloy filter body housing right near the oil filler cap under the plastic cover on the passenger side of the vehicle". Hoping this is the correct location so I can pass it onto my father. May thanks in advance.
So are we talking HZ Holden or VZ commodore here ¿?

If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?
Caffe Late was probably spilled onto the note from dad, blurring the letters stating what model it was!
just to give you a straight answer mate, yes, that is correct for a VZ commodore V6.
from memory theres a hex head and you just undo it with a socket, when replaceing be careful not to over tighten, this has been a problem in the past, same with the sump plug do not over tighten, as it may end with the sump cracking.
