    you heard wrong.

In most cases. im sure if the auto box was ****ed and you were a brilliant race car driver you could do better in a manual

if youre actually good at using a manual gearbox then yes it could be quicker but generally i think theres pretty much SFA difference tothe average person.

What is the definition of faster? 1/4 mile drag? Track? Street?

The E series 6-speed is a mean bit of gear, put a shift kit in it, and it will shift much faster than any person could possibly hope to push a clutch, swap gears and remove clutch.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head there. The latest generation Auto's relegate the manual as a relec for the nostalgic who enjoy fiddling with a stick.

But im told autos drain more power because of the torque converter and the manuals have 3:46s in the and the autos have 3:08s

My mates are heavily into the burnout scene, and we've had this same argument before, as i prefer the manual, but they all prefer the Auto to do their burnouts, as ithe gears change alot smoother and alot quicker.

You go to drag race someone, manual Vs Auto, i'm so disappointed to say that the Auto will take you off the mark every single time, but once you have the speed up, in a manual you can play with the gears alot more than you can in an Auto, as realistically the computer in the car makes the final decision on the changing of an Auto gear......

I've put the Billet shifter in mine, and althou it's helped with the fastness of changing gears, bloody autos still get me...ggrrrr (the ones that know what they are doing that is LOL)

just some of the things i've experienced personally with both manulas and Autos. Manuals are more fun to drive

im a lazy basrard, i drive a troopy for work during the day and like to kick back with a bigmac meal in my commie at night,

pfft gears are overated haha. ur car is only as fast as the person thats driving it (with an equal car that is) certainly the more upend cars, say top end euro cars are faster in autos because there designed by scientist but in such cars such as commies, the boxes are designed by my neighbour who wheres a flanno and stubbies. autos imo are much more reliable to pull the same time in a straight line but in a manual u can have the excuse of skiping a gear

lol, i have accidentally put my auto in N' once while accelerating, does that count?

anyways my opinion, autos faster 0-100/manuals faster round corners. all depends on how the car is built.

around a circuit, manuals are usually quicker.
On the drag strip autos are usually quicker

both applications depend a lot on driver and car.
