Hi guys, glad to be a member of the biggest online Commodore community:-)
A little about myself...
Name: Jack
Age: 18
Current car: ED Falcon XR6 (don't hate me, it's for sale)
Anyhow, I'm yet to buy my first commo and thought I'd come here as I have a few questions before I make my purchase.
I'm currently looking at a 1996 VS Calais (series I). It's a one owner and appears to be in immaculate condition, only 80,000kms on the clock! The owner says he's been running it on E10 for most it's life, and this concerns me a little.
Is E10 really as bad as they say?
Also, what should I look out for? Common ecotec problems etc...
hey there and welcome to the forums
the vs calais is a mad car i was looking for one for ages they look good and the good ole 3.8 motors go nicely and last quite a while if treated right
the only thing bad bout the "older" (using the older word loosely lol) is that electrics play up from time to time the only problems i had with my old vs were the power windows lol
and ive never had a problem with e10 fuel (as long as you dont get it from united hahaha)
p.s i dont have a problem with ford i own one![]()
Welcome mate.
Check power steering pump! notorious on ecotecs though with such low k's it shouldn't be an issue. Other thing to check on a VS is the link pin bushes, though again with 80 000km they shouldn't be an issue.
