There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
They are definitely worth it I reckon. I have been driving for 10 years and I still get something out of them (My work gets us to do them every year because we drive company cars). There is a company in Vic that our Vic office use and apparantly are quite good. This is the link to their site:-
Driver Dynamics Australia - Defensive Driving Course Fleet / Safety Driving Course / P Plate Driving Course
Hope this helps.

There is the Mercott's one for around $260 that is done at Sandown racetrack. Runs for an entire day. Or there is the METEC one for $195 up in Kilsyth which is just as good.
Ive done the one here in Canberra about 2 weeks after gettin my licence and I benefited from it and think I will for a while. +It was good fun getting to know my car.. oh and skidpan was fun![]()
That sounds like a good idea ive thought about doing a defensive driving course for awhile now especially now ive got the SS. A mate of mine told me that after u get it done u get a slight insurance discount aswell. But with all the ********s on the roads nowdays and theres getting more and more any advantage u can get is worth it, might save your life 1 day, or your entire families!
I did the Murcotts one about a year ago. I reckon everyone should have to do one when they get their license. Definately opens up your eyes to things you otherwise might never get taught. I'll probably do another one in the next year just to make sure I'm up to date with it all as well.

My old man used to be one of the instructors at the Murcotts for the defensive driving.
He is recommending me to go down and do a course.
I am heaps keen.
Do you use your own car? Or do you have a choice?
stop droolin
True, I did a course with my old car and didn't realise until then that my brakes locked up real easy. Compared to all the new little cars with ABS mine was an embarrassment. Not driver skill, just the way the cars were set up. For example there were a couple of female drivers there who I don't think ever drove fast or cared about cars except getting from A to B, had new toyotas, and they kicked everyone else's arse in the braking and swerving section.
Really opens your eyes, I swore my next car would have ABS.
