Question vs ute or vt exec WANT OPINIONS

    Hey guys.
Im looking to buy my first car and have pretty much had my heart set on a vs ute.
The other day the old man told me he was probably selling his vt and asked if i wanted it. I said no at first coz i think i want a manual, but have a seen a few done up vt's and they look pretty nice.

    so what are peoples opinions.

-AUTO red/maroony late 97 vt exec sedan, stock as a rock (has lpg) - would be cheaper to buy too.
-MANUAL pretty much any model of vt ute

i would likely lower, 18's and 2.5" exhaust either of them.

    thanks

By the way fuel is the killer for newbies, LPG is cheap, like the budgie.

well i've realised that yeah il probs get the vt for like...3-4 grand. its got 180ks and yeah lpg which is good. only thing is its an auto but oh well. If i get the vt cheap il save up a couple of years and buy a better ute im thinking.
anyone got idea on how to make vt's look hot?

A lowered VT with stock body kit looks a billion times better than a kitted up VT sitting at stock height

Totally depends on the rim and tyre you go for. You can usually pick up some awesome bargains from other forum members in the classifieds section

My opinion would be to go for the VT, VS's are fast losing their value, and a VT in good nick will be a better trade in, if you decide to do so at a later date.
Also it's getting a lot harder to find spare parts for VS's, especially new(I know from experience..lol).
A VT would 'hopefully' have lower K's than a VS too, so less wear & tear, so maybe saving a few repair $$$, which could of been spent on better things.
Just some things to think about.

Yeah BoNez coz the vt has been our family car and my grampas before that it has obviously full service history and has been in perfect condition, bout 183000 k's. it would also be cheaper than a vs ute. although i have to disagree that the vs utes are worth less. ive found they hold their value far more than vt's, but il likely only spend 4000 max so it doesnt bother me too much.

And Wogboyz ive spoken to you about the vs utes. id really like one, yours is sick! but i think getting this cheap vt for a couple of years, then buying a better ute will be the go!

Yeah true, a ute will hold more value than a base model sedan, I guess it also depends on what you want to use it for?
    Just transport, work, or whatever.
Only reason I say it's hard to get new VS parts is because of where I live, little town in the middle of nowhere, and no decent outlets.. lol

Yeah well will be probably dropping year 12 and seeking an apprenticeship in carpentry, kinda the reason i was thinking of a ute. i also love them
but i think the vt option will be the smart choice, though its not manual

i just bought a black vs ute, manual for 5400 with 220 on the clock and it is an awesome car. i had a VT wagon and that was a good car aswell. if youre going to go into carpentry go for the ute, and chicks look at ya in a ute....lol

i had the same dilemma as you, well kind of haha....
i was offered a vt wagon cheap as chips when i was searching for my car from a family friend.
i like the ignorant teenage i am wouldn't budge cause i had my heart set on a manual vs ute.
i bought my vs ute 3 months ago for i will admit a lot more than the vt wagon but really its my money and i wanted to spend it on something i loved.
at the end of the day mate, do what you think, i just haven't looked back since buying my ute and i love it to bits.

Yeah you have a pretty sick ute tim!
and well, yeah at heart i would like a ute, because i just love the look of them.

but as its a good opportunity and in awesome condition (and lpg). but im more than happy to buy this and dump it haha and then in a few years buy a dream ute

but if a ute came up i'd probably buy it lol.

also any opinions on how much to buy for

late 97 VT exec, great condition, dual fuel, 183,000k's, full family service history.

ive looked a bit and think around 5.5-6.5k sounds about right?
