I've got a great V6 VN manual which I love dearly but it's been years since I owned a V8 and I was hoping somebody could set me straight on what to look for.
I don't have a heap of money so I'm happy to buy something rough (but rust free) and build it up over time.
Should I be looking at something like a 253 VH-VK and going for a simple carby fed 308 transplant or are all the 308's already worn out and bored out and I should give up that idea?
I once had a VC commodore 4 cylinder which I put a 308 in, that was funny in the wet weather, 13 inch razor blades and the 4 cylinder diff ratio ! And a mate had a really quick ex HP VK which was interesting.
Or should I look at a VN V8 which will be a minimnum of $3500 or so for a half decent one. My dream would be a mad 6.2 ltr thing in a VH but I know that wont happen so I'm open to realistic advice.
What's the best way to get V8 love without spending heaps at once?
Thanks for any suggestions or advise.
Cheapest way to get a quick v8 commy would probably be to steal 1! lol
something...something...profit?
Thanks guys.
VS SS.
VN SS
either of them will be up to $8k, you get a 304 (5ltr) - Much better than a 253 and a more modern car.
Cheapest way to make a V8 Commodore go quick would be to get towed around by someone with a supercharged V6 LOL
A V8 does sound nice but i was pretty dissapointed with the performance of a VT SS that was supposed to have a 195Kw 5 litre engine when i drove it. My Calais with a standard supercharged V6 that only has extractors and a 3 inch single exhaust would make the SS look like it is going backwards.
